MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Getting ready for some Max Muncie deja vu? Here's your chance to see the other one. Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13 Posted April 13 The Mets countering the lefty with surprise options in left and right. And speaking of such, check out Tommy Pham! His first day back in the majors after 17 trips to the plate in A-ball and he's in the lineup against the Los Angeles Freakin' Dodgers. And batting ahead of Marcus Semien, notably. # NEW YORK POS. # LOS ANGELES POS. 1 Francisco Lindor (S) ss 1 Shohei Ohtani (L) dh 2 Luis Robert, Jr. (R) cf 2 Kyle Tucker (L) rf 3 Mark Vientos (R) 1b 3 Will Smith (R) c 4 Bo Bichette (R) 3b 4 Teoscar Hernandez (R) lf 5 Jorge Polanco (S) dh 5 Freddie Freeman (L) 1b 6 Francisco Alvarez (R) c 6 Andy Pages (R) cf 7 Tommy Pham (R) lf 7 Max Muncy (L) 3b 8 Marcus Semien (R) 2b 8 Santiago Espinal (R) 2b 9 Tyrone Taylor (R) rf 9 Miguel Rojas (R) ss David Peterson (L) sp Justin Wrobleski (L) sp
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 13 Posted April 13 This is a terrible lineup. Soto hurt, Baty not playing well enough to play against lefties, Lindor struggling, Bichette struggling, Polanco struggling. credit to Mendy for trying something different.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Andy Pages, who was benched during the playoffs last year for offensive ineptitude, is basically leading the majors in every offensive category so far this season. Let's put it this way: he's currently out-WAR'ing Ohtani. And Miguel Rojas, along with Hyeseong Kim, are not only replacing Mookie Bettes at SS while he's injured, but they're also out-performing him ... by a lot!!

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Author Posted April 14 Manager Mendoza's balls have gone salty His strategy and tactics have become faulty It's not his fault Soto and Lindor are not contributing But this is no way to win a world series ring
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I am expecting I may watch an inning or two of this one, then heading to bed to get some rest. I feel like the match up between McLean & Yamamoto is the game to stay up for. Yamamoto has the advantage in that he can likely give up 2 runs and have a good chance of his team winning. McLean likely doesn't have that luxury.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Gonna watch for an hour. unless Peterson sends me to bed earlier than that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I hope the Dodgers are all growing big shrubby mustaches in tribute to Davey Lopes.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I hope the Dodger are growing big shrubby eyebrows that impede their vision. It may be our best hope.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14 Posted April 14 This "best player who ever played" business needs to be shelved for about eight years.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I forgot Tucker is here too. I hate the Dodgers.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Down meekly in the first. What a surprise.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Kyle Tucker — just a guy. OE: A guy that Peterson doesn't want to pitch to, apparently.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Peterson not starting great. Nothing like handing the Dodgers two free runners.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14 Posted April 14 This is a Mike Pelfrey start for David Peterson. Gets ahead and is terrified of throwing strike three.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Ron as frustrated as the rest of us. whippoorwill 1
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 All three Mets went down in order. All four Dodgers have reached.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Whatever was in that mound visit, Justin Willard needs to put it in a bottle. Or, alternatively, deliver it to his pitcher before the game starts from now on. Centerfield 1
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Wow. Imagine if that’s the inning that turns around David Peterson.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I don't know what Willard said to Peterson, but it woke him up. Maybe Mendoza should have Willard talk to the Mets hitters.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Bichette hits a rocket up the middle. Gets robbed on a great diving play by Rojas. What do the Mets need to do to get a hit?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Francisco Alvarez — four homers and four RBI. That's sub-optimal.
