Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 In recent days, the parameters of the move we've been discussing have become a little more clear. The forum can continue to be called "The Crane Pool Forum", but it will be a subsidiary of a larger Mets site. For example, the site might be called "Peppermint Mets". (It won't! I intentionally chose a name that's too stupid to be real.)It would be hosted at peppermintmets.com. The home page would have news updates, articles, links to blogs or videos or whatever. And a link to "The Crane Pool Forum".Our task, here, is to try to come up with a name that's better than "Peppermint Mets". I think we can do that! The name needs to include the word "Mets" as a standalone word, not as part of a portmanteau such as "Metsmerized" or "Metscellaneous". The goal is to have it come up in the results when someone searches for "Mets".It also has to be something for which a domain name would be available. There are many sites where you can check domain name availability, include at GoDaddy. For what it's worth, they think that "peppermintmets.com" is a "great name". https://www.godaddy.com/domainsearch/find?domainToCheck=peppermintmets.com&itc=dlp_domain_whoisWe're going to use this thread to gather suggestions for the new site name. It's possible that an obvious consensus will emerge, but if not, we'll create a follow-up thread that will serve as a poll where we can vote for the names nominated here. So... start suggesting!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 (edited) How about Supercalifragilistic METS pialidocious. Very easy to remember and type into the search bar.Or you could get into the Hub theme, Mets Hub. It would be my second favorite Hub, outside of GrubHub of course.Or think of basic things like Mets Galore, Mets Essential, the Mets Line (oh it's like a subway reference too!!), or something punny like Nice to Mets You or Glad We Mets or something.Actually the Mets Mint is alliterative and memorable.Mets Vault makes it seem like an archive of sorts, which it kind of is.Mets-Turbate is probably available, Gen Z would love it. metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 meetthemets.com is for sale! This domain is listed for sale at one of our partner sites for $19,999.A steal at that price
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 IShovedMetsInMySaucyArsehole.com I second this one.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 I'm told we'll have to replace "Saucy" with "Juicy".
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 How about something that reeks of 2000s GeoCities like "Mets Mania," with a shoddy logo made in WordArt or Microsoft Paint?
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted March 3 Posted March 3 the Mets Line This is a really, really good name.
SheaStadiumPornRoom Verified Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 three words probably. Pepper Mint Mets. kind of perfect. Otherwise the arsehole one.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Have We Mets Before Because of what it will be, this rings truest to me. Marcus Aurelius’ principle.Later
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Metsonline.com is available for $5kAnything that ties into our history is too random for other folks. schaefermets.comStockholmMets.comMaybe something with the word “pool”.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I kind of like Meet the Mets.Another option might be Mets Baseball Pool.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I think the real Mets might have copyright or trademark or whatever issues with Meet the Mets considering that phrase is so commonly associated with the actual team. Also it doesn't really actually convey what the site is about. Mets Baseball Pool is kind of clunky, two many monosyllabic words, especially at the bookends. Pool itself is a clunky word. Use a catchier word like Haven. Mets Baseball Haven. Mets Haven. Whatever. I'm not picking on your selections specifically, so don't take offense.TBH words is what I went to college for.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 meetthemets.com is for sale! This domain is listed for sale at one of our partner sites for $19,999.A steal at that price Meet The Mets is $20k according to this site
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Lol we could get meatthemets.com for three years for $46
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Considering how close the B and the M are on the keyboard, Mets365 is probably a bad idea. Unless our goal is to attract a lot of sloppy typers with a gambling jones.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 I'm noticing that the Cubs site (North Side Baseball) and the Marlins site (Fish on First) does not incorporate the team name: About DiamondCentric - DiamondCentric DIAMONDCENTRIC.NET And the sites for the Blue Jays (Jays Centre) and Red Sox (Talk Sox) only include a partial team name.So the question becomes, how critical is it that the site include the word "Mets"? Or could we call it "Flushing Baseball" or "Who's on Third?"

Flushing Baseball would be good, the logo could be a baseball (or the Mets logo) being flushed down a toilet, reminiscent of how Mets fans feel about the team each year come August or September.

Or could we call it "Flushing Baseball" or "Who's on Third?" We inherited North Side Baseball as a name; it goes back 25 years at this point. And it's been a struggle with the name, but whaddya gonna do? The domain is ancient by internet standards. We don't run Fish On First; we only provide the tech for it. Ely Sussman and his crew run that site.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Flushing Baseball would also work with new members getting assigned a toilet avatar.

What IS the site actually about? No one at the Mets gives half a hoot about a random internet site using the words Meet the Mets.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Well, we're not really an introductory website to the Mets nor are we a primer site, and Meet the Mets implies such a thing. Also, it's an insanely cliche line. It's so overused it really doesn't speak to any sort of uniqueness or brand this site might be trying to establish.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 How about "Grand Central Mets"? The 7-Line has co-opted the name of the subway that goes to Shea, I mean, Citi. We could do the same with the highway that goes there. It also suggests that the site is a hub of activity.
Elian Pena St. Lucie Mets - A SS In St. Lucie's Wednesday doubleheader, the 18-year-old shortstop went 3-for-7 with a walk and his 7th and 8th doubles. He's hitting .346/.460/.481 (.941). Also 8 steals in 9 attempts. Explore Elian Pena News >
