I'm sure this happens to every team, but it's sort of weirdly fascinating that we've had these Ghost Mets who aren't even really Ghost Mets recently.

out of interest - doe he get the MLB salary.?

He does not.  He is on a minor league contract and will be paid at that salary (and not earn MLB service time either).  Very bad luck all around.

A.J. Minter: The Mets placed Minter (lat) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday. Still on the mend from the left lat surgery he underwent May 12, 2025, Minter is expected to spend the next couple of weeks continuing his rehab program at the Mets' spring training facility in Florida, per MLB.com. The southpaw reliever has been facing hitters for the past few weeks, so he could get the green light to start a rehab assignment at Single-A St. Lucie shortly after the Florida State League season gets underway. Minter is expected to eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate as the final step before he makes his return from the IL. Injury Lat. Est. Return 5/1/2026.

Mike Tauchman: Tauchman underwent surgery Thursday to repair the torn meniscus in his left knee, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Tauchman is expected to miss the first six weeks of the season while he recovers from his operation. He'll report to Triple-A Syracuse once he's healthy but could be bumped up to Queens during the season if Carson Benge struggles during his first season in the bigs. Injury Knee. Est. Return 5/15/2026.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies placed RHP Tyler Burch on the 60-day injured list.

Juan Soto: Soto was diagnosed with a minor strain in his right calf Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. The Mets will hold Soto out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants, but no decision has been made yet on whether to place him on the injured list. The 27-year-old outfielder is optimistic that he'll be able to avoid a trip to the IL, but the team could end up putting him on the shelf if he isn't feeling better within a few days. Injury Calf. Day-To-Day.

Clay Holmes: Manager Carlos Mendoza said Saturday that Holmes' hamstring "checked all the boxes" during a series of strength tests, David Lennon of Newsday reports. The next step for Holmes is to throw a bullpen session within the next few days. If he gets through it without any issues, he'll receive the green light to make his next start against the Dodgers on Wednesday. Injury Hamstring. Day-To-Day.

A.J. Minter: Minter (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Thursday, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports. It will be the first game appearance for Minter since he underwent surgery on his left lat last May. Given how long the layoff has been, Minter is going to require a handful of rehab appearances before rejoining the Mets' bullpen. The veteran lefty will eventually slot into a setup role but could be eased into high-leverage situations. Injury Lat. Est. Return 5/1/2026.

Juan Soto: Soto (calf) could return for the start of the Mets' next homestand April 21, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. New York won't rush its star outfielder back, but the organization seems confident that Soto's calf strain isn't a serious issue. The 27-year-old is currently swinging a bat and playing catch but hasn't yet resumed a running program. Once he does, a clearer timeline for his return should come into focus. Injury Calf. Est. Return 4/21/2026.

Joey Gerber: The Mets placed Gerber on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right finger blister. Gerber struck out five batters across two shutout innings during his season debut Monday against the Dodgers, but a blister will now keep him sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. Austin Warren was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to fill the open bullpen spot. Injury Finger. Est. Return 4/29/2026.

Jorge Polanco: The Mets placed Polanco on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right wrist contusion, retroactive to Wednesday. Polanco has been dealing with a nagging Achilles injury all season, but he got imaging done on his right wrist Friday, and although he seems to be dealing with just a bruise, the Mets will put him on the IL anyway. MJ Melendez is a candidate to see more time at DH while Polanco is sidelined, and Hayden Senger will come up from Triple-A to round out the active roster. Injury Wrist. Est. Return 4/25/2026.

Juan Soto: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday that Soto (calf) remains on track to return during the team's upcoming homestand, which runs April 21-30, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. It was previously reported that Soto was expected to be reinstated from the 10-day IL during the upcoming week, so a return during the first half of the homestand wouldn't be surprising. The 27-year-old appears set to rejoin the Mets without needing a minor-league rehab assignment after missing the past two-plus weeks due to a calf strain. Injury Calf. Est. Return 4/21/2026.

Jared Young: The Mets placed Young on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Monday, due to a meniscus tear in his left knee. Young reported discomfort in his left knee Tuesday, and further imaging revealed a more severe injury that will result in the 30-year-old undergoing surgery, per Will Sammon of The Athletic. It's a significant blow to the Mets' depth at first base and in the outfield, especially with Juan Soto (calf) still on the 10-day IL. Young is looking at a lengthy absence depending on the extent of the surgery needed to repair the tear, which could have him sidelined until the summer. Injury Knee Est. Return 7/1/2026.

Francisco Lindor: Lindor (calf) will wear a boot for the next week and remain shut down for at least three weeks, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. After the three weeks are up, Lindor will have more imaging on his left calf to check his progress. He could resume baseball activities at that point if the Mets are satisfied with the MRI, but Lindor would be ramped back up slowly. It all points to a lengthy absence for the star shortstop, but more will be known about a timeline by mid-May. Ronny Mauricio is filling in at shortstop for the Mets in Lindor's stead. Injury Calf. Est. Return 6/1/2026.

Joey GerberGerber (finger) struck out two and allowed two hits over a scoreless inning during his rehab appearance Tuesday at Triple-A Syracuse. The right-hander took the hill for the second appearance of his assignment after he previously tossed a scoreless frame for Single-A St. Lucie on Saturday. Gerber shouldn't require much more additional time in the minors to prove his health after landing on the injured list April 14 due to a blister, but his activation could be delayed nonetheless if the Mets don't have a spot available for him in the big-league bullpen. Injury Finger. Est. Return 5/3/2026.

Jorge Polanco: Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said last Friday that Polanco (wrist/Achilles) has resumed performing baseball activities but is considered week-to-week in his recovery from a pair of injuries, SNY.tv reports. New York placed Polanco on the 10-day injured list April 18 due to a right wrist bone bruise and left Achilles bursitis. The Achilles issue has been something that Polanco has been managing throughout the season, while the wrist injury is a newer concern. While Polanco's ability to take part in baseball work is a positive sign, a target date for his return from the IL likely won't become clear until he resumes playing in simulated games or minor-league rehab games. Polanco started at first base in the Mets' first two games of the season, but he was deployed exclusively as a designated hitter in his subsequent 12 starts before hitting the IL. Injury Wrist. Est. Return 5/8/2026.

Luis Robert: The Mets placed Robert on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a lumbar spine disc herniation. Robert hasn't played in a few days and an MRI revealed the herniation in his back. He will be shut down for 7-to-10 days after being given an injection Thursday, per Max Goodman of NJ.com. While a minimum stay on the IL is unlikely, the Mets are hopeful Robert's absence won't be a lengthy one. Tyrone Taylor and MJ Melendez will see more action in the outfield for the Mets while Robert is shelved. Injury Back. Est. Return 5/18/2026.

Kodai Senga: The Mets placed Senga on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to lumbar spine inflammation. The right-hander has begun the season 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA through his first five starts, and he lasted just 2.2 frames during his most recent outing Sunday versus Colorado. According to Laura Albanese of Newsday, Senga received an epidural and will be shut down from throwing for at least 7-to-10 days. Once healthy and built back up, the Mets are likely to send Senga on what could be a lengthy rehab assignment to try and get him back on track. Christian Scott is poised to claim the open rotation spot after being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. Injury Back. Est. Return 6/1/2026.

Minter should be very close to returning to the Mets.  He has appeared  in 8 games and pitched 7.2 innings.  His last 2 outings for AAA Syracuse were each a scoreless inning of work in a 3day span.  He has an overall ERA of 1.17 with WHIP of  0.783.  He only has 4 strike outs, but he hasn't issued any walks.  He is getting hitters out, which is what matters most.

I doubt there will be any significant news regarding Francisco Lindor until after he is reevaluated in 2-3 weeks.  Likely in a walking boot until that evaluation.

Following his last outing with Syracuse that was expected to be a final hurdle to his return to the Mets, A. J. Minter experienced discomfort in his surgically repaired left hip.  His rehab assignment has been halted for now.  Both Minter and the Mets are optimistic that he can return to the mound after a few days of rest.

Ronny Mauricio: The Mets placed Mauricio (thumb) on the 10-day injured list Sunday. According to Laura Albanese of Newsday, manager Carlos Mendoza said that Mauricio is headed for a CT scan and is facing an initial recovery timeline of 6-to-8 weeks. The Mets called up Vidal Brujan to provide another option at shortstop while Mauricio and Francisco Lindor (calf) are on the shelf, but Bo Bichette will start at the position Sunday in Anaheim and will likely see the bulk of the playing time at that spot. Injury Thumb. Est. Return 6/15/2026.

AJ Minter: The Mets pulled Minter (lat) from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday due to left hip discomfort, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. Minter was cleared to embark on a rehab assignment in early April, less than a year after undergoing surgery on his left lat. He has tossed 8.2 innings across nine minor-league games while posting a 1.04 ERA and 0.69 WHIP. Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that Minter will be reevaluated in a few days, but the Mets aren't overly concerned about the 32-year-old southpaw, who could be with the big club by mid-May depending on the severity of his latest injury. Injury Lat. Est. Return 5/12/2026.

Kodai Senga: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that Senga (back) played catch Wednesday, and the right-hander is progressing in his recovery, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. "[Senga's] feeling a lot better, so now we've got to build him back up," Mendoza relayed Wednesday. Senga is working through lumbar spine inflammation that caused him to land on the 15-day injured list in late April. He'll struggled to a 9.00 ERA and 1.95 WHIP across 20 innings prior to landing on the IL, and he may need a lengthy rehab assignment before being cleared to return to the big leagues. Injury Back. Est. Return 6/1/2026.

Per Mike Puma, Polanco’s wrist is fine. His Achilles bursitis has acted up, and there remains no timetable.

Luis Robert has also not started baseball activities.

Too many of the players brought in this past off-season have spent far too much time on the DL, not that they were overly effective when they were on the field.

2026 has had very few great wins.  And to make things worse, a handful of them have been marred by injuries.

MRI for Alvarez tomorrow. No update from Mendy. Says we have to wait and see.

Doesn’t sound good.

Francisco Lindor's follow up MRI of his injured left calf revealed evidence of healing, however he is still considered a long way from returning to the Mets.  He will continue to allow the calf to  heal while undergoing a regimen of therapy.  Then he will need to adequately strengthen his leg with weight training prior to starting a running program.  If the running goes well, then he can begin baseball related activities.  There is no timeline yet established for his return.

I suspect the Mets will consider themselves fortunate if Lindor can return to the team prior to the All-Star break in mid July.

Francisco Alvarez: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Alvarez (knee) has already resumed hitting and could return well before his projected eight-week timetable, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports. Alvarez is less than two weeks removed from surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee. He still has plenty of benchmarks he needs to reach before a specific timeline for a return comes into focus, but Alvarez seems to now have a chance to be back before the end of June. Injury Knee. Est. Return 6/29/2026.

Clay Holmes: The Mets transferred Holmes (fibula) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday. The right-hander was recently shut down from all activities for 6-to-8 weeks due to a fractured right fibula, so it's hardly a surprise he's been moved to the 60-day IL. Holmes is expected to require about a month to build back up to game readiness once fully recovered, so he'll likely be sidelined until at least mid-August. Injury Leg. Est. Return 8/25/2026.

Francisco Lindor: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Lindor (calf) has begun a running progression, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports. It's the first tangible sign of real progress for Lindor, who is going through other baseball activities like hitting and fielding grounders, as well. The star shortstop has already missed more than a month of action with a left calf strain and will likely require a handful of rehab games before being activated. Lindor should be back sometime in June, though there remains no specific timeline for his return. Injury Calf. Est. Return 6/18/2026.

AJ Minter: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Minter (lat) will likely be activated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports. It's been a long road back for Minter, who hasn't pitched for the Mets since undergoing left lat surgery last May. Minter produced good results on his rehab assignment, holding a 1.59 ERA and 7:1 K:BB over 11.1 innings. However, the lefty averaged only 92.3 mph with his four-seamer in his final rehab appearance with Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, which is more than two mph down from last year's pace. As such, Minter could be eased into high-leverage situations. Injury Lat. Est. Return 5/26/2026

Jorge Polanco: Polanco (Achilles) has been taking live at-bats at the Mets' spring training complex at St. Lucie and could begin a rehab assignment soon, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. The veteran infielder has been out since mid-April due to a wrist contusion and and Achilles soreness, but it's the latter issue that has kept him on the shelf. Pain management remains the biggest hurdle for Polanco to clear before he can return to game action, but if he's able to begin a rehab stint this week and avoid a setback, he could be back in the big-league lineup in early June. Injury Achilles. Est. Return 6/5/2026.

Luis Robert: Mets manger Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Robert (back) is still experiencing lingering symptoms and "is not progressing the way we would like," Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The decision to call up A.J. Ewing was no doubt related to Robert's slow recovery from a lumbar spine disc herniation. Robert has not been cleared to resume baseball activities and appears ticketed for an extended absence. In the meantime, Ewing will get an opportunity to nail down the center-field job for the Mets. Injury Back. Est. Return 6/9/2026.

Kodai Senga: Senga (back) gave up two earned runs on four hits and a walk over 3.1 innings in a rehab start for Single-A St. Lucie on Friday. He struck out two. While the right-hander's line in the box score wasn't particularly impressive, Senga built up to 63 pitches (36 strikes) in his first rehab start, suggesting his return isn't far away. He landed on the 15-day injured list after a rough stretch to end April, coughing up 16 earned runs in just 8.1 innings over his last three big-league outings. If he needs only one more rehab start, Senga could be in line to rejoin the Mets rotation during the club's first series of June in Seattle. Injury Back. Est. Return 6/2/2026.

Juan Soto: Soto (illness) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds. Soto is battling the flu and will miss a second straight start. It's unclear whether he might be available off the bench. Nick Morabito is starting in left field and Carson Benge is getting a start at designated hitter in Monday's series opener.  Injury Illness. Day-To-Day.

Jared Young: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Young (knee) will likely be activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports. Young has been shelved since mid-April following surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee, but he's done with his rehab assignment after going 5-for-22 in six games. Once activated, the left-handed hitter could see some starts against righties between first base, designated hitter and the corner outfield spots. Injury Knee. Est. Return 5/26/2026.

Syracuse Mets sent LHP Joe Jacques on a rehab assignment to Brooklyn Cyclones.

Syracuse Mets sent 3B Grae Kessinger on a rehab assignment to FCL Mets.

Tyrone Taylor: Taylor (hip) will be sent for an MRI, but the team expects that he'll require a stint on the injured list, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports. Taylor was pulled from Monday's game against Cincinnati after suffering a right hip injury, and the team has yet to reveal the severity of the issue. Assuming he does land on the injured list over the next day or so, A.J. Ewing and Bretty Baty could pick up a few extra at-bats. Injury Hip. Est. Return 6/5/2026.

Jorge Polanco: Polanco (Achilles) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton on Wednesday, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports. Polanco has been cleared to return to game action after being sidelined since mid-April with a right wrist contusion and left Achilles bursitis. It's the Achilles issue that Polanco has had trouble overcoming, and he will likely have to manage the injury the rest of the season. Polanco will probably require a handful of rehab games before rejoining the active roster in early June. When he does return, he's slated to see the bulk of his playing time at designated hitter. Injury Achilles. Est. Return 6/5/2026.

Luis Robert: The Mets transferred Robert (spine) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday. Robert landed on the 10-day IL on April 30 due to lumbar spine disc herniation and has yet to resume baseball activities while he continues to deal with lingering symptoms of the injury. While surgery isn't on the table for Robert at this point, the 28-year-old has received consultation from outside doctors regarding a treatment plan for his symptoms, per MLB.com. Robert remains without an official timeline for a return, though his move to the 60-day IL ensures that he won't be an option for the Mets until at least late June. Injury Back. Est. Return 6/26/2026.

Tyrone Taylor: The Mets placed Taylor on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a right hip flexor strain. Taylor was injured while running out a grounder in Monday's loss to the Reds. Per Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record, manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that the team received relatively good news regarding Taylor's MRI, and the outfielder could return in as little as 2-to-3 weeks if all goes well. Injury Hip. Est. Return 6/15/2026.

They call it ESL Ballpark now? That must be recent. It was still Frontier Field when I moved away from the Rochester area, and that was less than 5 years ago. ESL Ballpark is a lame name to be sure.

Yeah, I'll always be Frontier to me. I was here for the championship in 1997.

ESL is as big a company as there is outside of Wegmans in this town, though.
