metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 News: Sean Manaea has been shut down from throwing for 48-72 hours due to discomfort stemming from a loose body in his left elbow. He had been getting close to an MLB returnDiComoAccording to president of baseball operations David Stearns, this is not an issue that should push Manaea's rehab back more than a few days. He should return to the mound in the minors by the middle of next week. It's not yet clear if Manaea will require surgery after the season.DiComo

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Depending on how severe it'll be 3 months or 10 months till he's ready to go again
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 So it's possible but very unlikely that he'll pitch again this year.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Author Posted June 27, 2025 He was a great regression candidate, so in the long run he probably would've pitched like Frankie Montas traditionally has, leaving us groaning. It could be worse.Time for Sproat/Hamel/McLean.EDIT: Actually, he was already mid-regression and has sucked since mid/late May. His WHIP is nearly 1.400 (1.379 ish) which is unsustainable., I'm not too worried about this one.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 So it's possible but very unlikely that he'll pitch again this year. I'd say extremely unlikely. The interesting thing about tendons is they will grow back. If its a small tear it can be fixed if they put him in a cast for a while. Surgery for a big tear, fuggetaboutit
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Wow.That was a strange injury. He just tried to change direction before his leg had fully absorbed the power stride of his pitch, and a moment before he was completely balanced, and kapow.Hopefully, the day off Monday gives the team a chance to re-set the rotation so they can work Sean Manaea in without having to turn to Blackburn for another turn.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2025 Author Posted June 30, 2025 Griffin Canning: The Mets placed Canning on the 60-day injured list with a ruptured left Achilles tendon Friday. Canning struck out three and gave up just one hit in 2.2 innings Thursday against Atlanta before he had to be removed from the game and helped off the field. To those that saw the injury, this was the expected outcome. Canning will miss the remainder of the 2025 season and possibly even the start of the 2026 campaign, as he has a lengthy rehab ahead of him. Canning was enjoying a career season with the Mets, but it's now over with a 7-3 record, 3.77 ERA and 70:35 K:BB across 76.1 innings and 16 starts. Blade Tidwell has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. Injury Achilles. Est. Return 2/1/2026.Sean Manaea: Manaea (oblique/elbow) played catch Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. It's the first time he's thrown since he was given a cortisone shot after being diagnosed with a loose body in his left elbow. Manaea had to pause his rehab assignment briefly after the elbow issue popped up, but he's on track to make what is expected to be his final rehab start next week. The left-hander initially went on the injured list prior to Opening Day with an oblique strain and could make his 2025 Mets debut prior to the All-Star break. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 7/8/2025.Brooks Raley: Raley (elbow) is slated to move his rehab assignment from Single-A St. Lucie to Double-A Binghamton on Saturday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Raley continues to progress in his recovery from May 2024 Tommy John surgery. He made three rehab outings in Single-A, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out six across three scoreless innings. Given how good he's looked in limited action, Raley appears to be on track to rejoin the Mets' bullpen sometime in July. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 7/8/2025.Jesse Winker: Winker (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn on Sunday, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports. Winker was officially cleared for rehab games after taking batting practice at Citi Field on Thursday. The 31-year-old is eligible for activation from the 60-day injured list July 4 and has a good shot to return on that date. Winker has been shelved since early May with a Grade 2 oblique strain. Upon his return, Winker should see plenty of action at designated hitter versus right-handed pitching. Injury Oblique. Est. Return 7/4/2025.Other injuries:Ty Adcock - 7-day ILMatt Allan - 7-day ILTrey McLoughlin - 7-day IL
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2025 Posted June 30, 2025 Ron Darling said he had lose bodies in his elbow three times. Said the issue was pitching through painHe also said two of the three times he needed surgery. Don't know if it was in season surgery
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2025 Author Posted July 6, 2025 Paul Blackburn: Blackburn (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing until early next week, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports. The veteran right-hander landed on the injured list Thursday due to a shoulder impingement, but the Mets don't seem concerned about the severity of the issue. Blackburn could be ready to rejoin the roster in late July, but he may not have a rotation spot waiting for him if Kodai Senga (hamstring) and Sean Manaea (elbow/oblique) beat him back from the IL. Injury Shoulder. Est. Return 7/21/2025.Jose Butto: Butto was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to an unspecified illness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The organization isn't releasing the specifics of the ailment, but he's expected to be back shortly after the All-Star break. Chris Devenski was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to fill the open bullpen spot. Injury Illness. Est. Return 7/21/2025.Sean Manaea: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Thursday that Manaea (elbow/oblique) will make one more rehab start Tuesday, Manny Gomez of NJ.com reports. If all goes well Tuesday, the Mets will likely bring Manaea back from the 60-day injured list to make his season debut July 13 against the Royals in the final game of the first half. The left-hander went three innings and threw 60 pitches Wednesday with Double-A Binghamton in his most recent outing. Manaea initially went on the injured list due to a right oblique strain, but more recently he's dealt with a loose body in his pitching elbow. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 7/13/2025. Tylor Megill: Megill (elbow) has been cleared to restart a throwing program, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The right-hander has been shut down since landing on the injured list in mid-June due to an elbow sprain, but he recently underwent an MRI that showed reduced inflammation and has been cleared to start throwing on flat ground. Megill will need some time to ramp up his arm strength and may not be ready to come off the IL until early August, but he's hoping for a quick buildup. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 8/1/2025. Dedniel Nunez: Nunez (elbow) may require Tommy john surgery, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. While the Mets initially labeled Nunez's injury as a right elbow sprain when he was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, an MRI revealed more significant issues with his ligament. If he does end up needing Tommy John surgery, it would be the second such procedure in the 29-year-old right-hander's career. Given his history of arm trouble, expect the Mets to be cautious with Nunez's recovery, even if he avoids a worst-case scenario. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 8/1/2025.Kodai Senga: Senga (hamstring) gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings Saturday for Double-A Binghamton, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Senga was expected to throw around 60 pitches Saturday before potentially rejoining the big-league rotation next week, and he threw 68 pitches Saturday, although the results weren't great. DiComo says it remains to be seen whether this performance will affect the plan to have Senga return next week in Kansas City. Injury Hamstring. Est. Return 7/12/2025.Jesse Winker: Winker (oblique) has gone 2-for-6 with a home run and a 2:1 BB:K in two games since his rehab assignment was shifted to Double-A Binghamton. The veteran outfielder played nine innings as the DH both Wednesday (in the first game of a doubleheader) and Thursday, and while the Mets will likely want to get him some defensive reps before activating him, Winker's bat appears to be just about ready to face big-league pitching. He's been sidelined since May 4, and Winker should slot into the strong side of a platoon at DH once he comes off the IL while seeing occasional action in an outfield corner. Injury Oblique. Est. Return 7/8/2025.Calvin Ziegler: Status—day-to-day. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 7/9/2025.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2025 Author Posted July 7, 2025 Paul Blackburn: Blackburn (shoulder) played catch out to 75 feet Sunday, MLB.com reports. After being placed on the injured list Thursday due to a right shoulder impingement, Blackburn was cleared to initiate a throwing program just three days later. Blackburn should have a chance at returning from the IL when first eligible shortly after the All-Star break, but he could be in store for a bullpen role upon his activation. The Mets currently have just three healthy rotation members, but Kodai Senga (hamstring) and Sean Manaea (elbow) both appear poised to return from the IL next weekend in Kansas City. Injury Shoulder. Est. Return 7/21/2025.Starling Marte: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said after Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Yankees that Marte will get evaluated after his knee "flared up" in the ninth inning, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Marte was in the lineup for the fourth time in the last five games but was making just his fifth start of the season in the outfield while Brandon Nimmo served as the Mets' designated hitter. The 36-year-old provided a spark from the top of the order over his five plate appearances with three base hits and his fifth stolen base of the season, but the flareup of his chronic knee issue now clouds his availability heading into the All-Star break. Even if Marte is able to quickly bounce back from the knee problem, his playing time could soon trend downward with Jesse Winker (oblique) expected to return from the injured list at some point during the upcoming week. Injury Knee. Day-to-day.Kodai Senga: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Senga (hamstring) is likely to return from the 15-day injured list next weekend and is expected to start either Friday or Saturday in Kansas City, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. "When he went down [with a right hamstring strain], in my head it was more like after the All-Star break," Mendoza said. "For him to be in play for us now before we go into the All-Star break, it's huge for us." Before confirming which day Senga will return from the IL, the Mets will wait and see how he bounces back from the rehab start he made Saturday for Double-A Binghamton. The right-hander was charged with four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings, but the fact that he covered 68 pitches and experienced no complications with his hamstring is of greater importance than his results. Assuming he's given the green light to pitch this weekend, Senga shouldn't be operating with any significant restrictions in what would be his first start with the big club since June 12, though the Mets probably won't overextend him with the All-Star break looming. Injury Hamstring. Est. Return 7/11/2025.Jesse Winker: Manager Carlos Mendoza said that Winker (oblique) could return from the 60-day injured list when the Mets open their three-game series in Baltimore on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Winker has been on the shelf since May 4 due to a right oblique strain, but he looks ready to rejoin the big club after he went 4-for-12 with two home runs, one double and three walks across five rehab games with High-A Brooklyn, Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse. The 31-year-old didn't get any exposure to the corner outfield during his rehab assignment, and while DiComo relays that the Mets have no imminent plans to use him on defense upon his return, the left-handed-hitting Winker should see regular starts against right-handed pitching as the strong side of a platoon at designated hitter. Injury Oblique. Est. Return 7/8/2025.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2025 Author Posted July 13, 2025 Paul Blackburn: Blackburn (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Sunday before beginning a rehab assignment at Single-A Port St. Lucie after the All-Star break, MLB.com reports. With Kodai Senga rejoining the rotation Friday and Sean Manaea (elbow/oblique) expected back Sunday, the Mets don't need to rush Blackburn back to patch over holes in the rotation. The 31-year-old right-hander should still be ready to come off the IL in late July, but it will likely be in a long-relief role. Injury Shoulder. Est. Return 7/25/2025.Sean Manaea: Manaea (elbow/oblique) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and is expected to work as a bulk reliever Sunday against the Royals. The left-hander is making his 2025 MLB debut in the final game of the first half, and he is poised to pitch behind Clay Holmes in Kansas City. Manaea threw 73 pitches over 3.2 innings during his final rehab outing and shouldn't face significant workload restrictions, though he could have a suppressed pitch count Sunday as a result of his role. The 33-year-old had a 3.47 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 184:63 K:BB over 181.2 regular-season innings for the Mets last year and should work as a traditional starter after the All-Star break. Starling Marte: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Friday that the results of Marte's (knee) MRI were "very encouraging," and the Mets expect Marte to return after the All-Star break, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Marte was placed on the injured list July 7 due to a bruised right knee, but he may not miss more than the required 10 days. The outfielder is slashing .270/.353/.387 in 188 plate appearances this season. Injury Knee. Est. Return 7/18/2025.Tylor Megill: The Mets transferred Megill (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday. Megill resumed a throwing program last week as he works his way back from a right elbow sprain, but the Mets' decision to move him to the 60-day IL means he won't be eligible to return until mid-August. The transaction clears a spot for the return of outfielder Jesse Winker (oblique) from the 60-day IL. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 8/14/2025.Dedniel Nunez: Nunez (elbow) is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery next week, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Nunez landed on the injured list July 3 with a sprained right elbow, and he's now slated to undergo Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career. The 29-year-old will wrap up 2025 with five earned runs allowed in 9.2 innings, and because his procedure will happen so far into the season, he's likely to remain on the shelf for the entire 2026 campaign as well. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 2/1/2027.Jesse Winker: The Mets placed Winker on the 10-day injured list Friday due to back inflammation. Winker exited Thursday's game with back tightness and headed to New York to undergo further testing, which revealed inflammation severe enough to warrant an IL stint. Winker has been serving as the Mets' primary DH, a role that could be handed to Mark Vientos in the short term. Jared Young was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. Injury Back. Est. Return 7/21/2025.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 Winker has been serving as the Mets' primary DH, ... . Did AI write this? He was activated for four games and appeared in two, neither of which he finished. Something of a stretchie, there.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2025 Author Posted July 20, 2025 Pete Alonso: Alonso has been diagnosed with a right hand contusion near the base of his thumb, explaining his absence from the starting lineup Sunday versus Cincinnati, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Importantly, X-rays on Alonso's hand came back negative, and he may be available to play off the bench. The slugger would need to do so in order to extend his franchise-record streak of 353 consecutive regular-season games played. It doesn't sound like the Mets are concerned about Alonso dealing with a significant injury, so at this point an IL stint doesn't seem to be likely. Injury Hand. Day-to-day.Paul Blackburn: Blackburn (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with the Mets' Florida Complex League affiliate Friday. A previous report indicated Blackburn's rehab stint would begin at Single-A St. Lucie on Friday, but he'll get his start in the FCL instead. He's expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list in late July, and will likely fill a long relief role with the Mets' rotation nearly at full strength. Injury Shoulder. Est. Return 7/25/2025.Jose Butto: Butto's (illness) rehab assignment will continue at Triple-A Syracuse on Friday. Butto made an appearance with the Mets' Florida Complex League affiliate Tuesday and will continue his rehab stint at Triple-A. Considering he's recovering from an illness instead of a physical injury, Butto likely won't need more than one or two more rehab appearances before being activated. Injury Illness. Est. Return 7/21/2025.Max Kranick: Kranick (elbow) will likely undergo Tommy John surgery, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Kranick was diagnosed with a right flexor strain in late June, and after receiving a second opinion on his elbow, he's expected to undergo his second Tommy John surgery in three years. There's still a chance he undergoes a flexor tendon repair surgery, but for now, the expectation is Tommy John. The 27-year-old logged a 3.65 ERA in 37 innings of relief for the Mets this season. Regardless of which procedure he has, he'll be out for the rest of 2025 and could miss a large portion of 2026. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 2/1/2027.Jesse Winker: Winker (back) recently had an epidural and will be shut down for 7-to-10 days, Laura Albanese of Newsday reported Friday. Winker received an injection to address the pain in his back and will be shut down for at least one week. The 31-year-old has been on the shelf since July 11, and Friday's news likely means he won't be back until August. Injury Back. Est. Return 8/1/2025.Due back soon:Starling MarteJose Siri
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2025 Author Posted July 27, 2025 Paul Blackburn: The Mets announced that Blackburn (shoulder) is expected to move his rehab assignment to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. Blackburn is ready for a tougher test after he opened his rehab assignment last Thursday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League, where he struck out eight and allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. Though the Mets appear to be letting Blackburn build up as a starter during his rehab assignment, he could be ticketed for a long-relief role once he's activated from the 15-day injured list. Injury Shoulder. Est. Return 7/28/2025.Max Kranick: The Mets transferred Kranick (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Kranick is set to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow. He pitched in 24 games out of the bullpen for the Mets this season, logging a 3.65 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 25:5 K:BB across 37 innings. Kranick could end up missing most of the 2026 campaign. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 9/1/2027.Tylor Megill: Megill (elbow) threw a bullpen session Thursday and is scheduled for another Sunday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Megill was placed on the 15-day IL with a sprained elbow June 17 and was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 8. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Saturday that the righty hurler is trending in the right direction, though Megill isn't eligible to be activated until mid-August. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 8/14/2025.Dedniel Nunez: The Mets transferred Nunez (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday. The transaction is merely procedural, as Nunez is slated to miss the rest of the season and likely the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery last Monday. The Mets claimed right-hander Rico Garcia from the Yankees on Monday and will have him take over Nunez's spot on the 40-man roster. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 2/1/2027.Rafael Ortega: Sent on a rehab assignment to St. Lucie Mets.Yacksel Ríos: Sent on a rehab assignment to FCL Mets.Brandon Waddell: The Mets reversed Waddell's optional assignment to Triple-A Syracuse and placed him on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a right hip impingement. Waddell had been sent down to Syracuse over the weekend, but he didn't appear in any games for the affiliate and is thus eligible to be placed on the big club's injured list. The lefty will be eligible for activation Aug. 3, but it's not clear whether he will be ready to return on that date. Injury Hip. Est. Return 8/3/2025.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2025 Author Posted August 4, 2025 Paul Blackburn: Blackburn (shoulder) struck out three and allowed two earned runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings Saturday in his rehab start with Triple-A Syracuse. Blackburn has now compiled a 2.21 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 22:6 K:BB in 20.1 innings over four rehab starts between stops with Syracuse and the rookie-level Florida Complex League. He's been on the shelf since July 3 due to a right shoulder impingement but has been fully stretched out for over a week now, as he built up to 87 pitches in his previous rehab start before tossing 93 on Saturday. His delayed activation from the 15-day injured list seems to be a result of the Mets buying some time to decide whether he'll be part of the rotation or bullpen upon his return, and Blackburn's odds of returning as a starter may have increased after Sunday's 12-4 loss to the Giants. Frankie Montas was battered for seven earned runs in four innings in the loss and now holds a 6.68 ERA over seven starts on the season, perhaps putting him at risk of losing his spot in the rotation. Injury Shoulder. Est. Return 8/8/2025.Tylor Megill: Megill (elbow) threw about 22 pitches in a live batting practice session Sunday at Citi Field, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. Megill has now reached another major milestone in his recovery from a right elbow sprain by facing hitters for the first time since landing on the injured list June 17. The right-hander will likely throw another two-inning simulated live BP on Thursday and perhaps another sim game after that before the Mets map out a minor-league rehab assignment for him. The Mets will presumably let Megill get stretched out for a starting role during his assignment, but it's unclear if the big club will actually have a spot available for him in the rotation by the time he's eligible for activation in the middle of August. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 8/19/2025. Drew Smith: Injury Elbow. Est. Return 9/1/2025.Brandon Waddell: Waddell (hip) is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton on Saturday. The Mets optioned Waddell shortly after the All-Star break, only to reverse that move and place him on the 15-day injured list with a right hip impingement. He's now ready for game action and doesn't figure to require a lengthy rehab assignment, but it's uncertain what kind of role he will have over the final two months of the regular season (if any). New York bolstered its bullpen with Ryan Helsley, Tyler Rogers and Gregory Soto prior to Thursday's trade deadline. Injury Hip. Est. Return 8/8/2025.Jesse Winker: The Mets transferred Winker (back) to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Back inflammation sent Winker to the injured list in mid-July, and his move to the 60-day IL will ensure he remains sidelined until at least Sept. 9. His 40-man roster spot will be given to Tyler Rogers, who came over from San Francisco via trade Wednesday. Injury Back. Est. Return 9/9/2025..
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 Blackyburny went 5 2/3 innings for Syracuse tonight, giving up two earned runs and taking the win. He struck out three and walked none. He's 5-1 / 2.55 this year at AAA.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2025 Author Posted August 10, 2025 Paul Blackburn: Blackburn looks ready to return from the 15-day injured list, having collected a 2.21 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 22:6 K:BB in 20.1 innings over four rehab starts. However, the Mets aren't ready to remove Frankie Montas from the rotation at this point, so they'll kick the can down the road and have Blackburn make another rehab start. Blackburn has been out since early July with a right shoulder impingement. Injury Shoulder. Est. Return 8/14/2025.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2025 Author Posted August 18, 2025 Francisco Alvarez: Alvarez (hand) was removed from Sunday's contest against the Mariners in the eighth inning, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports. Alvarez jammed his right hand into second base on a headfirst slide in the bottom of the seventh inning, which ultimately required him to leave the game in the following frame. The catcher finished his day 3-for-4 from the plate with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. More information on his status will likely be provided in the near future. Injury Hand. Day-to-day. Carson Benge: Benge was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday with an undisclosed injury. Benge had played only four games with Syracuse upon his promotion from Double-A Binghamton before going down with the injury. It's not clear what exactly he's dealing with or how long he'll be out, but the injury doesn't help Benge's already-long odds of making his major-league debut in 2025. The 22-year-old has slashed .306/.413/.504 with 12 homers and 20 steals across three minor-league levels this season. Injury Undisclosed. Est. Return 8/23/2025.Gilberto Celestino: Injury undisclosed. Est. Return 8/20/2025.Jose Marte: Injury Shoulder. Est. Return 8/21/2025.Tylor Megill: Megill (elbow) struck out nine batters over 3.1 scoreless innings for Double-A Binghamton on Sunday. He allowed just one hit without walking a batter. The right-hander was simply too much for Eastern League hitters, firing 39 of 55 pitches for strikes in his second rehab appearance. Megill hasn't pitched for the Mets since June 14 due to an elbow sprain, so he'll need at least one more start in the minors before potentially being an option for the big-league rotation, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he gets two more while the team takes a look at top prospect Nolan McLean. Over five innings for Binghamton on his rehab stint, Megill hasn't given up a run with a 13:1 K:BB. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 8/27/2025.Christian Scott: Scott threw a bullpen session last week and is "doing well" in his recovery from right elbow surgery, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. It was Scott's first bullpen session since he underwent a hybrid Tommy John and internal brace procedure on his pitching elbow last September. He's not expected to pitch this season and remains on the 60-day injured list. Injury Elbow. Est. Return 2/1/2026.Austin Warren: Syracuse Mets activated RHP Austin Warren from the 7-day injured list.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 Curious that there is no update on Alvarez.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2025 Posted August 19, 2025 Curious that there is no update on Alvarez. Probably just the function of an off day. Assuming he sees the doctor in the morning, team knows something by mid-day, AND there’s something to announce….are they really going to put out a press release that afternoon? (Or just wait for the ordinary media availability/pregame press conference on Tuesday?)
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2025 Posted August 19, 2025 I dunno. I’m getting a bad feeling. Like if it was minor why not just announce it. Hope it’s just paranoia.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 The Mets have announced that Frankie Montas has been placed on the 15-day IL, retroactive to August 22, with a right elbow UCL injury.Huascar Brazobán has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.SNY
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 Brazobán is probably a better option for relief work anyway. You see the letters UCL and you have to assume Tommy John is the likely end result. You have to prepare for next year under the assumption that Montas will not be a part of it.But with Tong and Sproat not far behind McLean, that might turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
