Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I hate the way Nick Martinez rocks back and forth. Unsettling.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Bryan Baker is good. It's a shame it took until now for him to get into a game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Gotta be one of the longest delays for a replay review since they got rid of the headsets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Extra innings without a magic runner! It's, like, baseball!! Centerfield 1
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Really hate that the Rays are getting booed by the other teams fans in the own building in the WS. Forget expansion. Just move this team.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Wow! Down goes Frelick. Golden opportunity in the bottom of the eleventh coming up for the Rays. Brewers bullpen can't go forever.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago But they're letting Ashby go for three innings. That's good baseball!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Coming up short in the eleventh, and now they've lifted one of their best hitters.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Kapowie! Pratt! Also, a guy named after two NYC colleges should play in New York.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago UFFF. That error might hurt.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago And the Rays live to see another day!
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Fantastic bullpen work. I figured one of the pens was going to crack eventually- turns out both did. These teams are such mirror images of one another (that 8-run inning excepted).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago And now they can't swap out two or three relievers for obscure-but-rested guys from their AAA team.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Do all teams do that? I don't pay enough attention to anyone's bullpen use but our own, and I just assumed that was a Metsy thing.

Some teams do it more than others, certainly, but teams have treated it as a primary directive since, like, the 2013 Dodgers won the pennant by expanding their pitching staff to 20 guys by regularly rotating them in and out. The abuse became so universal that the league had to step in and limit the number of times a Joe Smith could be promoted and demoted in a season. But that has only led to more abuse of AAAA veterans who are instead promoted and DFA'd, and regularly end up with four organizations in a single season. But the good news is that rosters remain largely frozen within a series during the post-season — though there are now injury exceptions* to that rule which I imagine can and will be abused. *FUN FACT: As with many rule changes, this largely occurred because of the Mets.

Is this a Mike Andrews reference?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago So will they start Rasmussen? I would not. You need to win 3 games anyway. Might as well have Rasmussen fresh for one of them.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He was on Oakland's 1973 World Series roster. I think Charlie Finley wanted to replace him on the roster while the Series was in progress due to poor play. I forget the details. I was thinking Edgy was referring to Orlando Hernandez in 2006.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Rasmussen gets the start. So what do I know.

Pretty insane all around, Finley even had an injury excuse at the ready, and Manny Trillo ready to be activated for the remainder of the series. 2) Ah.
