Day games, man. Even the guys who dog it regularly somehow look doggier. Day games after night games can be tough on older players. And as FK pointed out in the other thread, Machado is starting to move into that category. Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Laying off the slider away (good) has made Alvarez way late on the fastball (bad). He just needs to shorten up.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Cute slide, but I'd still rather these guys went straight in feet first.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19 Posted August 19 That totally looked to be a DP with Bichette running but they rushed it and pow.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 19 Posted August 19 yeah, I need a passive way to follow the game when I'm working whippoorwill and MFS62 2
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Farty, farty brain today for Lindor. I'm definitely making a thing of this at FranciscoCon this winter.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19 Posted August 19 First time Kodai the Kloser has seen adversity. Big test here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Big game later this evening as the Nats face Texas and our old frenemy Kumar Rocker.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 19 Posted August 19 scroll to 13 minutes, shaky start then got the double play

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19 Posted August 19 By the way, big homer by Benge and some key outs by Lavender, but I'm giving the PotG to KC. seawolf17 and Centerfield 2

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 20 Posted August 20 7 hours ago, Edgy MD said: Mets making a defensive switcheroo in the sixth. Yeah, we need to talk to Andy Green about this. He brings Pache in for Baty (not as a pinch runner; just a straight defensive replacement) in the 6th but then hits Robert for Pache in the 8th. By doing the switch for the top of the 6th, It is guaranteed that Pache’s spot will come up to bat again. And we know that Pache can’t hit. (So does Andy…that’s why Robert was used). So what’s the thinking here? Robert is too fragile to play 4 innings in the field on his off day? Baty’s too much of a liability in the field to play more than 5 innings? Pache has a games played incentive in his contract and Andy’s trying to do him a solid? I really can’t see the logic.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 20 Posted August 20 He's entered Pache for defense and then lifted him when his turn came around at the plate three times now (I think), so I imagine he has thought it through. The upside is it gets multiple innings of Pache's defense late-ish in the game. I assume he sees Pache as, say, a 9.5 out there, while Robert is more of a 7.8. The downside is it uses two guys to replace one.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Washington unfortunately tops Texas (who used to be Washington), 6-0. They remain three games behind the fourth-/12th-place Nats. The two other teams within striking distance — Pittsburgh and Cincy — each pulled out one-run wins as well. All are playing AL teams, so their wins didn't even help take some competition down a peg.
