Brazoban traded to White Sox

Not sure I understand why the guy with multiple seasons of team control is being traded.

The prospects are pretty weak here. Not too impressed, but Brazoban is also an old reliever who historically has not been too impressive.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Zach Franklin take someone's place in the bullpen. He's 27 already, though does have good strikeout numbers in his career.

MLB ranks Gabe Davis the White Sox' 18th prospect but the only number that impresses is his height at 6-9

I would've asked for something other than a 27-year-old career minor leaguer, at least. If you're building for the future, get young prospects that might be something in the future. I know we need to bridge the gap until we get there, but we have a whole minor league system of prospects and already-signed wash-ups to help us do that.

I like Brazzy and woulda kept him also but the bright side is Davis is a physical beast, only drafted last year, so if we also acquire competent pitching coaches we can develop him into something.

A solution for what?  And I’m not sure I understand why any of this means they should have traded him.

He’s under team control through the 2029 season, but is making only $1M this year.  You could cut him in the future if he’s bad, but he’s been good for two consecutive years now.  He’s precisely the sort of player you keep for next year.

I acknowledge that his age makes him a risk, but it's a very cheap and controllable risk.  I don't think I would have bothered if that was the best we could do.

Brazoban being under control for a few years is precisely why I would have preferred the Mets retain him. I prefer keeping the inexpensive, effective, established reliever with years of control to two middling prospects.
