Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 1 through 5 is solid. 6 through 9 is problematic.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Magic number is down to 86.They need to go 44-41 the rest of the way to be a 90-win team.Team ERA finally over 3.Team BA still under .250.The doldrums have arrived.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Luzardo had a terrific early season underway until two back-to-back horrid starts vs MIL [12 ER in 3/1 IP] and TOR [8 ER in 2.1 IP] blew all that out of the water and more than doubled his ERA [2.15 ERA thru 11 starts then 4.46 thru 13].Since then he's gone one good start vs Cubs [1 ER thru 6] and is coming off a not so good one vs MIA [4 ER thru 5]

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Well this turned to shit in a hurry!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Peterson sounds gassed, based on the radio descriptions.Lindor sounds one toe short of being the fine fielder he otherwise is.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Yeah, I didn't have 'two singles off Lindor's glove in the same inning' on my bingo card for tonight.First one resulted in an extra base for Philly. The second should have resulted in an extra out for the Mets, but didn't.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 "Bigelow Tea can make the second half of this game even better than the first!"— Howie Rose, really going out on a limb
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Keith Raad getting way too much mileage out of his partner Pat McCarthy and Pat's wife being in the delivery room tonight.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Just checking in now. Looks like it's not worth tuning into the game. Mets have serious problems.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Just picked a wrong time to come back down to earth. It's a longseason, everything is not going to be wine and roses in baseball.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 We're watching but it's not easy.Had a much better time this afternoon watching the Syracuse Mets win their game 6-4. Even got selfies with Mr. and Mrs. Met (see my IG page)

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 There was a season not long ago. Maybe it was 2022? Where the Mets were good but didn't have any signature wins. But a bunch of cock punch losses. This feels the same right now. I can't remember one game this season where the Mets had a thrilling come from behind win.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Mets also suck on the ESPN StatCast
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Need six runs. A mere bag of shells.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Part of the problem with this whole discussion of pitcher innings is a skewed version of how things used to be.Cone: 'My pitching coach w/the Mets and Yanx Mel Stottlemyre regularly threw 30 complete games per year'No, David, he once topped 20 (24) and also once led the AL in CG with 18 (1965). And this from a very good pitcher whose 11 season career essentially spanned the most pitching dominant time since the dead ball era.Which isn't to say things haven't changed over the years, but let's at least have an honest conversation about it.This whole 'pitchers used to always finish what they started' stuff has got to stop. Did they walk to school uphill both ways too?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 Winless without Francisco Álvarez. And for the first time in forever, losing a game in which Francisco Lindor homers.
