Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 21, 2025 Posted April 21, 2025 No sooner have the Cardinals fled town than the Phillies have hopped into their place. With the Mets sitting atop the National League East, they find their brothers from the city where brothers love brothers to be the only rival within punching distance. So it would be a smart move to dodge any punches, and that is just what they hope to do as they send Tylor Megill to the mound.Six-time Phillies Opening-Day starter Aaron Nola takes the hill for the invaders with an oh-and-4 won-loss record and a 6.65 ERA. Another mis-step would put him in the lead for the Marvin Miller Cy O'Nara Award, bestowed annually after 50 games to the starting pitcher most in need of a strike.https://wp.clutchpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Phillies-vs.-Mets-prediction-odds-pick.jpg?w=700>In the wake of the passing of Pope Francis, many have noted that Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos has a bizarre history of hitting homeruns while something somber is being discussed in the announcing booth, and while it seems like a joke, https://www.whiskeyriff.com/2025/04/21/all-eyes-are-on-nick-castellanos-after-the-death-of-pope-francis/there supposedly is heavy action on Castellanos similarly parking one tonight.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 21, 2025 Author Posted April 21, 2025 Lindor is making things awfully dangerous in the upper deck.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2025 Posted April 21, 2025 Four HRs for Lindor this season: - Leading off the 1st (4/8)- Leading off the 9th (4/18)- Leading off the 1st (4/20)- Leading off the 1st (4/21)All of which clearly proves one thing: he can't hit with runners on base

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 21, 2025 Author Posted April 21, 2025 Winkie doing a good job not hitting with runners on base, too.Along with Megill striking out the side, the Mets are looking pretty locked in.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2025 Posted April 21, 2025 Other wacky Lindor 1st inning stat: 10-for-21 plus a walk, 3 doubles, 3 HRs. Now here's the bad news ... just four 1st inning runs scored. So he's driven himself in three of the four times (the other was on an Alonso HR) despite being on 1st base 5 times and 2nd base three times, all with no outs.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2025 Posted April 21, 2025 Megill must think this was the old days, when the teams had Mondays off and a bullpen could rest. He's thrown 50 pitches in a little over 2 innings. How about a couple of one or two pitch outs?Later
