I'm planning a road trip to see the Mets @ CitiField this summer. Looking for an afternoon game on a weekend in hopes of maximizing the likelihood meeting up to share a beer with a few of my CPF friends. I need some seating advice. I sat in the Coca Cola Corner (then known as the Pepsi Porch) with KC and G-FAFIF last time. Where is a good section to see the game without needing to go back to work in order to pay for the tickets. Is promenade Infield (512/513) or Promenade Baseline (405) decent seats. Also, what is the difference between Gold and Silver within a section? I am assuming the gold are closer to the field, but I don't really know. I would appreciate any assistance and guidance any of you can provide.

Now that I am retired, I can come any time, but I believe that a daytime weekend game would provide the greatest opportunity to meet with fellow CPf members.I am open to suggestions for possible dates as well as seating section suggestions.

The Mets price the weekend tickets significantly higher than mid-week. For best value, you also want to avoid premier opponents that draw big crowds (read: Phillies, Braves, Yankees, Dodgers, Giants).

If I was picking a random weekend series: maybe the May 31/June 1 series against Colorado. It's likely to be nice weather but it's before the price jumps up for the prime summer season.

My advice is to first set a budget and then see what the options are in that budget. Also, don't be afraid to wait it out for a while and see what the secondary market (eg. SeatGeek) as to offer. You may find the prices more to your liking than what the Mets are selling things for.

Sent you a PM as well.

We go once a year as well, nearly always a weekday afternoon game in the summer months. That's about the cheapest seat you can get.

We have in years past enjoyed the Promenade level, mostly for quick access to some A/C, better drink and food choices and nicer bathrooms, but I'm equally content in the upper deck as long as they are infield seats.

Section 140 or anywhere in and around the apple is great, up the steps to food etc , secondary market tix dirt cheap

Another vote for "between the bases." Also, what gwreck said about prices and crowds for weekend games

I've generally had a good experience with Pepsi Porch when I'm close to the field and in fair territory. I much prefer sitting in right field than in left (too dark, like the old Loge Cave)

One other piece of advice I'd give would be to look for seats on TickPick.com - seems to have the best prices and without all of the sneaky fees that show up between when you pick tickets and when you pay the bill. For our last few trips I've waited until just a few days out to buy mine (you can do that for a Wednesday afternoon matinee against the Pirates).

I appreciate the advice regarding tickets. I knew that the Phillies, Braves and Yankees would cost more than the Rockies, Pirates, or Reds. I understand that a weekday afternoon would be less expensive that Saturday or Sunday, but I am hoping to maximize the likelihood of being able to meet up with some of my CPF friends. I will likely look at seats in the infield promenade. Looking at games Sun. 6/1 vs. Rockies or 6/15 vs. Rays.

Truthfully, whenever I attend a Mets game, the tickets are actually the cheap part of the weekend. It is 2-3 nights of hotels that really drive up the cost. We plan to take in a show, do some sightseeing, and hit a few breweries along the way.

Okay, the wife and I have settled on a week. We are looking to attend the Sunday, June 15th game (@1:40 PM) against the TB Rays. Hopefully, I can meet up with a few of my fellow CPF members and share a beer.
