This inning may well be Iglesias' last crack to extend the hitting streak.

OE: Or next inning.

He heard you.

And now the hitting streak lasts until next April.

I'm ok with it continuing through the postseason too.

Feels good to know that we won the game where both teams went all out, and they won the leftover game.

Exactly right. Game one was the real game. The Braves backed in.

Are the Diamondbacks the first team to miss the postseason because of a tiebreaker?

Bobby Thomson's "The Giants win the pennant" HR to eliminate Brooklyn was in a tiebreaker. (The Shot Heard 'Round the World).

Even more than that - I had no confidence that the Mets could come back in a game 2 having lost a tough, deflating game 1. That's historically been a roll over & be dead kind of spot for them

That's not what I meant. The Giants officially finished the season with a better record than the Dodgers that year

Oh. You meant the current tiebreakers, that aren't games any more, but formulas, right?

Yes. The no-tiebreaker-games rule was only put in place in 2022. The ties that have been broken since then are:

2022 NL East: Braves win division/#2 seed, Mets get wild card (#4 seed)

2023 AL West: Houston wins division/#2 seed, Texas gets wild card (#5 seed)

2023 NL Wild Cards: tiebreak determined that Miami got #5 seed and Arizona #6 seed (but both teams would have made it anyway)

2024 NL Wild Cards: we all know what just happened.

One last thought. I know this game didn't matter. But if this was a winner take all game, I think the Mets win it.

Especially with Sale hurt.
