Vogey signs with the Jays.

The first true DH the Mets ever had…which is a sad statement on a couple of levels.

Quite helpful out of the box in 2022. We shouldn't have discarded the box.

Had a sabbatical last season. Was good at slapping the railing when something good happened.

When he was in a funk, he'd stare at straight pitches right down the middle for strike three.

Had really good bat control for a big brute.

I too liked his railing slaps.

College teammate of Pete Alonso and Harrison Bader at UF. For a guy with a cult following, I could never get on board the Vogey bus.

In my mind, he was born to be a Milwaukee Brewer.

Fat guy who hit fat pitches.

I'd guess he was a "Good guy in the clubhouse".

He was fat.

He was so fat it looked like he couldn't even swing properly, like he had to try and swing around his fat gut.

He looks like he eats inanimate objects.

He looks like if Harold from Hey Arnold grew up.

He cost us what could've been a valuable bullpen piece in Colin Holderman.

I have no positive memories of Daniel Vogelbach.

Colin Holderman for Daniel Vogelbach was one of the few trades from the 2022 deadline that worked out. Either way, he didn't make the deal.

Very patient at the plate. Often, overly so. Drew a lot of walks as a result. Clogged the bases once he got on base. Seemed liked a good teammate, but the Mets needed more from the DH position than he was capable of providing.

Would have been interesting to see what kind of player he would have been if he was 50 or so pounds lighter. Alas, the cheeseburgers got in the way. I also thought that his swing was designed to navigate around the Cape of Good Fat.

I miss Daniel Vogelbach.

Part of getting to know the character of a team — perhaps a big part — are dugout shots, especially during rallies, such as they might come. And for the last year and a half, such shots have been defined by Guillorme's poker face and Guillorme banging his hand senseless against the padded dugout railing.

I'm sure I'll soon be getting a familiar and habituated read on the current dugout — Baty, so far seems to be the leading character — but until then, I find myself missing the Big Vo.

Also, speaking of Guillorme, has he appeared yet this series?
