Buck just revealed he won;t be back next year.

What is Holy Fuck?

Unexpected Things for $800, Alex.

Yeah, that's something.

I feel like too often he's been acting like a caretaker manager and not a guy looking to take the world right here and now. And that's a shame, since a championship is all that's needed to cap his impressive career.

Win one last one for the Buck-a-roo.

And then we'll have another manager to criticize.

Not surprising

Craig Counsell is likely available and we'll known to Stearns

The thing about Counsell is that he's a Wisconsin guy and is supposedly very attached to the area.

This all sounds like Stearns wants his own man and it was left to Eppler to do the dirty work. Hence this obviously contrived "voluntary (yeah, right) resignation".

What is the point of the continual Gary Carter thing? God, heaven

and mysterious ways? What is your point? Spell it out.

Since you asked:

I'm channeling Gary Carter openly campaigning for Willie Randolph's managerial gig while Randolph was still the Mets manager. Before the body was even dead, so to speak. I guess those are the classy intangibles that Carter brings to the table that are supposed to warrant the permanent retirement of Carter's Mets number, he of the two very good Mets seasons, two very crappy seasons, and one godawful vomit-inducing season.

Heaven because Carter's dead, and being the goody two-shoes that he was, he's undoubtedly in Heaven right now, so his message has to emanate from Heaven.

Mysterious ways because that's the argument advanced by those Mets fans that campaign for his Mets uni number to be retired. They can't put up a credible case based on Carter's Mets on-the-field record so they come up with this vague, ambiguous nebulous idea that his value extends beyond stats. Which you could say about any great Met. But we're supposed to believe that Carter's intangibles are so vast, that these mysterious ways intangibles, all by themselves, warrant the retirement of his Mets uni #. We've been through this plenty. Just this week, by one poster who claims intangilbles but won't explain just what they are. And a few years ago by the poster who would gladly turn over this country to a dictatorship. He wrote that Carter's value extended beyond his stats but couldn't explain one molecule of what that value was -- not that it stopped him from basing his whole case on those mysterious intangibles.

It's like cornering some devout fanatic against the wall with all of the infinite absurdities and stuff irreconcilable with known science that one would have to accept to believe that the universe is controlled by a magic invisible man floating in the sky and they respond by telling you that you know who works in mysterious ways. When you hear that, your bullshit meter should be redlining. And you should cover your wallet.

And because I can't help myself.

Happy? Anything else you want me to explain? I'd be happy to.

Cohen saying it's all about giving his new PBO the opportunity to pick his own guy.
