Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 The Gardaí make their first visit to Citi Field under their new name, as their old teammate Carlos Carrasco comes off the Injured List to pitch agin' them. Cal Quantrill, son of Paul, goes for Cleveland. Cal, a rare second-generation Canadian MLB'er, has only appeared once before against the Mets, getting hit hard back in 2019.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 Nice.Mets will also be playing with an acute case of .500 Fever.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Cal is a righty pitcher, like his dad was.Later
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Andres Giménez makes his Citi Field debut in front of fans.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Oh boy, people are riled up Nice touch with Gardaí
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 I really should be prepared with a KTE for youse guys, but it's been a busy couple of months with the new job and I've barely had time to pay attention to the Mets, much less my adopted AL team from my adopted city.Briefly, they're good at everything except hitting. Emanuel Clase has a good case for best major league closer without a torn patellar tendon. They all catch-n-throw pretty well. The rotation is above average.Giménez is turning into the good field no hit middle infielder we always knew he could be. I believe Amed Rosario is on the active roster but warming the bench.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Looks like Rosario is playing regularly but killing them with a .280 OBP.Gimenez had a much better year last year than this so far. Also not quite as phenomenal this year is Steven Kwan.Bieber who we see on Sunday is their best dude still.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 All clubs this weekend are to be wearing green military caps and optional camo socks for Armed Forces Day.This is something I wish MLB wouldn't do
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2023 Author Posted May 19, 2023 Yeah, it's kinda forced and gross kinda sorta.Much more fun when one team wants to rock rainbows and another wants to rock camo, and still another wants to wear autism ribbons. Whether it's a cause I believe in or not, it certainly doesn't feel meaningfully endorsed when that endorsement is universal and compulsory.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Flag fucking and glorifying guns
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 If I was commish, there'd be no more camo, no more pink and no more shoes that glow in the dark nor match your uniform. I'll never be commish...

whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 My son is a lifelong Cleveland fan and we were comparing our two team the other day This should be good
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 After Senga's and Megill's outings, wary that Carrasco is going to be a buzz kill with his 8.5x ERA. But I'm never wrong sometimes.https://www.kcmets.net/CPF/NYM.png>B Nimmo (L) CFF Lindor (S) SSJ McNeil (L) 2BP Alonso ® 1BB Baty (L) 3BS Marte ® RFM Vientos ® DHM Canha ® LFF Álvarez ® C
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Josh Walker goes down to make room for Carrasco.Michael Perez optioned to make room for Sanchez, as Locastro does something to his thumb diving into a base and goes on the 60-day.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2023 Author Posted May 19, 2023 That's a crap turn of events for Locastro. I'm pretty sure that he was still officially on a rehab assignment. Does his 60-day period get backdated to his original IL designation?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Not a big fan of patches logos and suchGimenez made the all star team last seasonI will still take Lindor over the traded guysOf bigger concern is which Carrasco will show up. Hopefully the one that can go at least three innings
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 COOKIE bomb1st inning gopher ball3-0
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 We got 'em just where we want 'em.Now let's kick some butt.Later
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 13th straight game been scored on in the first inning. A team record. Remember that, you may need it one day in a trivia contest.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Well at least they fought back well in the bottom half of the inning by putting a ball in play (nearly out of the infield!) and getting Quantrill's pitch count into double digits.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Carrasco has to be one of the least successful starters the Mets have had in a long time.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Carrasco has been an unmitigated disaster
