This would be a good spot for Lindor's first hard hit in ... I don't know how long.

A VERY good spot.

Not too often you see a guy scoring from 1st on a single standing!

Don't think I've ever seen a runner score from first on a single.

What's nice is, for me anyway, that for the first time in my recollection, WPIX games in 2023 are being aired on a local broadcast channel ("My 43," otherwise a local channel of no great significance), so I can watch now without streaming dicey illegal streams and just watch on my good ol $10 coax HDTV antenna.

I think Buck overthought this bullpen use tonight. Ottavino cruised through the 7th, I would've given him some of the 8th to see if he could keep it going

I love riding pitchers, but I wouldn't have ridden Robertson that long. Smith is coming in with his back against it here.

Smith climbed the ladder nicely there.

A 3-2 win certainly isn't a unicorn score, but it's a pretty good bet that it's the team's first 3-2 win ever where all the runs were scored on a three-run single.

But not the team's first 3-2 decision ever where all the runs were scored on a three-run single (one of the batter's 4,256 hits).

May, 1986. That was the month that Dwight Gooden's otherworldliness disappeared. Forever.

And it took the Hit King to end Doc's reign. 37-5 from August 11, 1984, through May 6, 1986 (50 starts; 1.38 ERA).
