Scherzer has now given up 11 HRs in his last five games/26 innings pitched. That takes in:

- the final two regular season games of '22 [3 HRs over 10 IP vs OAK & ATL]

- the playoff game vs SDP [4 in 4.2 IP]

- and now the first two games of this year [4 in 11.1 IP including back-to-back-to-back]

Scherzer has been known to give up the long ball now and then, indeed we here would occasionally revel in it when he did so as a National.

And though it is still a (somewhat) small sample size, I don't think it would be going overboard to label this recent trend as ... concerning?

Trends from last fall and this spring combined don't mean much to me.

Milwaukee's a pretty well known spot to launch a ball (though the Mets have missed that memo). I think the HR in Florida was mostly due to fatigue, having come in his last inning of work.

Definitely concerned. Last fall I thought he might be pitching hurt. But whatever it is should have healed by now.

I dunno. I got a bad feeling about this season and I can't really figure out why. I feel like we are a little weaker in all aspects of our team. Plus we're not staying healthy.

Where there's so much money, there's always hope. Maybe the Mets get Ohtani at the trade deadline. Me: fuck Scherzer. I'm still mourning deGrom. Until some point last season, around August, I think, it was unimaginable to me that deGrom would ever pitch for some team other than the Mets.

Yes, Max has been pitching hurt

Scratched from today's start with lingering soreness

Again, he is older than dirt

Mets right-hander Max Scherzer will have his next start pushed back to Wednesday due to lingering shoulder soreness.

Scherzer had been scheduled to pitch on Sunday. He noted that he had imaging done on the area below his scapula and said he isn't dealing with a serious issue. Since the Mets are already utilizing an extra starter this week, Scherzer said it would be “selfish” of him to take his turn if he wasn't at 100 percent. It sounds like he'll go on Wednesday, but this is a situation fantasy managers should monitor.

Jose Button gets the ball today. He has been decent thus far in the minors

Did not expect the Mets to be dipping into triple A the third week of the season

They always do. I mean, the presence of Megill and Peterson suggests that they dipped into AAA in the first week of the season. And Álvarez means they dipped in the second week as well. That's the game.

As for decent, Butto has surely been rather good, giving up only six hits and two runs in 9 2/3 innings.
