G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Go nuts with individual injury threads. This one serves as a repository for the physical state of the Mets.We are currently keeping an eye on…Quintana's rib.Senga's finger.Raley's hamstring.Marte's noggin.Montes de Oca's forearm.Peterson's foot.Ruf's wrist.Oh, our heart? Or just what happens in the course of a runup to the season?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Some combination of Tylor Megill, Eliesor Hernández, and Joey Lucchesi angling for the starting opportunities created by the Quintana/Senga/Peterson crisis. If the rotation survived the spring intact, Peterson had a good shot of going north as a reliever, so his foot may or may not be triggering jockeying in the bullpen as well.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2023 Author Posted March 15, 2023 Sam Coonrod has a high-grade right lat strain, which sounds a) uncomfortable and not conducive to pitching for a spell.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 The numbers game wasn't really conducive to Coonrod making the roster as it was. Rest up and get strong Cooney.Take a knee for a while.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2023 Author Posted March 15, 2023 Kenny Loggins just dedicated “Danger Zone” to the Mets' pen.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 I'm still of the mind that Coonie and MdO weren't likely to make the Opening Day bullpen under any circumstances.Mets Roster Central — whose staff fired up the hard drives just as soon as they saw Edwin Diaz hobbling — is currently projecting that the team breaks camp with a relief corps of: Adam Ottavino David Peterson* David Robertson Brooks Raley* Drew Smith Stephen Nogosek John Curtiss Jeff BrighamBrigham is getting the nod for that last spot as a current occupant of the 40-player roster, but the team currently has a spot on the 40 unoccupied (with the return to Yankeeland of Zach Greene), and another one likely to open up (with what looks like a coming 60-Day Injured List assignment for José Quintana), so lefty T.J. McFarland and righty Tommy Hunter are very much in the picture.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Sounds like Mountains of Downtime.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Guess we won't be Living La Vida Oca until 2024.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 This will be Montes de Oca's second Tommy John surgery. Wondering if we'll ever see his 102 MPH fast ball again?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Mets placed RHP Justin Verlander on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 27, with a low grade teres major strain.A surprising development for the Mets with Opening Day just hours away. Verlander, who signed a two-year, $86.66 million contract with the Mets this winter, was previously expected to pitch the second game of the season. Per the team, Verlander will continue throwing at "moderate intensity" and will be rescanned in a week. Until then, it's much too soon to speculate on a timetable on his return. Tylor Megill was Triple-A bound, but now he'll take Verlander's spot in the rotation and start against the Marlins on Saturday. The Mets' pitching depth is being tested early. batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 If Verlander is supposed to be replacing deGrom, he's off to a pretty accurate impression of deGrom.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 I wonder if Verlander inherited Jacob's locker... could be haunted or voodooed.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 2023 hasn't even started yet, and I'm already starting to wonder if it's going to be one of those years.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Tylor is on his way to Miami and is expected to start Saturday, that would line him up to start the home opener Gelbs

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Well, so much for that pitching depth the Mets told themselves they had......
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 With the ages of Max Justin Carrasco and even Senga I did not buy into the perceived depth of the SP's. I might buy into a Joe Blitzvic sighting or jinx
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 I'm glad we have Megill and Peterson. These five guys left are the last five that I have confidence in as starters though. Who's up next, Lucchesi? Yeesh
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 I'm unsure we'd all agree on what constitutes depth. Which team has the best #8 starter on March 1?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2023 Author Posted April 4, 2023 Tommy Hunter to the IL with back spasms. Denyi Reyes up.
