Combining all announcements into one thread.

The Mets acquired two Pitchers from the Marlins:

According to Mike Puma of The New York Post, the Mets have acquired a pair of pitchers from the Miami Marlins in Elieser Hernandez and Jeff Brigham in exchange for minor league pitcher Franklin Sanchez.

Franklin Sanchez is a specimen a — big, strong, lanky Dominican flame thrower who hits 100 with and can walk batters in his sleep. He spent a good chunk of 2022 starting for the Florida State League champion St. Lucie Mets.

It's probably a good time for him to switch organizations, as he's about at the age where (a) he should start filling in his lanky frame, and (B) he should switch to fulltime reliever, but he's had a really rough time of it in the Arizona Fall League of late.

He has a violent delivery and that may or may not be an omen of future health problems, but look at this stride.

SNY saying that both new pitchers will be added to the 40 man roster, but have minor league options left.

I believe a Mets message board can withstand more than one thread for Mets player acquisitions.

I originally had separate posts and decided to combine them.

My original thread said the Mets traded for two pitchers.

The second was announced less than five minutes after I hit enter.

The Mets still have five (or is it six?) open roster spots, and we haven't reached the Winter Meetings. Things are going to get busy here.

If you want to start separate threads to discuss them individually, please do it.

Nothing wrong with a general thread for minor moves such as these.

But if we should happen to sign Judge, trade for Arenado, pick up Verlander or other moves such as the dozen or so major happenings last

off-season, please, PLEASE, don't bury that news in page 3 of some all-purpose thread. We do this every year with the 'Injuries' thread and

it drives me nuts every year. Scherzer hits the IL twice and JdG misses 13 months yet we don't think either is newsworthy enough to deserve

its own discussion.

I promise not to do that for anything major.

I like Brigham. Hernandez doesn't deserve a major league contract.

But I do like stocking up on arms. The way pitchers are handled right now, quantity is as important as quality.

No WW really just wants to see hot wool tethered to Mets players.

That trade of Franklin Sanchez for Elieser Hernandez and Jeff Brigham? Either we missed this earlier or reports did, but the Mets also owe the Marlins a player to be named later in that deal.

I guess JCL is still weary from having to watch the Anna Benson train wreck for about a year and a half!

No, sexy peeps are everywhere in the digital verse. The best spouses help flesh out the great arc of the Mets story.

Hey, that reminds me of something I should add to another thread.

Yeah but there is a difference between those who aren't a wannabe Kardashian, and those whom seemingly attract the sleaziness of both mainstream and fringe media outlets due to their narcissistic need for attention on the same level as their professional athlete hubby.

Personally I don't care as long as she, or he when that ever happens, doesn't distract from the player's job. But I can see how the "I want to be as famous for being a glorified accessory" types can wear out those whom pay attention to those whom stay in the private sector and/or have professional accomplishments that equals, or is greater than their partner's.

Well, I don't mean to suggest that zexy zpouzes don't themselves help flesh out the Mets story. Only that they aren't alone in that and don't merely add flesh with their flesh.

The Mets announced on Wednesday they have signed right-handed pitcher Denyi Reyes and left-hand pitcher Zach Muckenhirn to minor league deals with invites to spring training.

Are you sure this is the right thread to talk about Mets' offseason moves?

Speaking of WW, I was recently thinking of Rocky Cherry, who was was grabbed by the Mets in the 2008 Rule V Draft, and released during camp the following spring. He didn't have much of a career, and most of the very modest press he did manage to get was due to being the son of a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

I could have him mixed up with another Rocky Cherry, but unless I'm mistaken, research shows that he ended up marrying ... a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader!
