A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 My October pony, the M's, jump out to a 6-3 lead in the 4th, treating Justin Verlander like the AL's Max Scherzer. Former Met starlet Jared Kelenic is batting 8th for the Mariners and has a hit and a run scored.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 My only problem with pulling for the Mariners is that I'll find myself regretting it if the Yanx advance.I have fmuch more faith in Houston thumping the yanx than in either Cleveland or Seattle

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 Going with the Mariners. I can't pull for a bunch of cheaters. I know that was in the past, but sevral of the current lineup were there at the time.Plus I will generally go with the underdog.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 Astros get a 2 out, 3R walk-off HR from Yordon Alvarez bottom 9 to win it. 8 - 7 in a game the M's led 7 - 3
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Bottom of the 8th in tense, scoreless game. There's a highly localized bank of fog around home plate but it's sunny in other parts of the ballpark. I guess that's just Seattle?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Holy shit!Bottom 15th and still Scoreless In Seattle.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 The fog is wildfire smoke. This game is in the 15th still scoreless. There was some hot Paul Sewald Action earlier, plus a lot of Jered Kelenic failures
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 This game is crazy, I hope it goes at least though 18 innings.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Whelp, there it was.Whelp, there it was.Whelp, there it was.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Tough series for the M'sGame #1 -- lose on a 2-out/3R walk-offGame #2 -- lose a late lead via a HR by the same guyGame #3 -- lose 1 - 0 in 18But at least they reached the post-season (even a dumbed-down one) for the first time in 21 years and then advanced a round.

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 I watched the SB Nation Mariner History series of videos a couple of years ago (YouTube). And it gave me the impression that the fanbase couldn't care less if the Mariners lost, as long as this was a unique and quirky game.Seriously, the narrator made it seem that there is ZERO AGITA in the Mariner fanbase over wins, losses and championships. And they care ONLY about watching the great performances and the quirky happenstances that happen in baseball.Really makes it seem that they'd be happy even though they lost, because they witnessed history tonight.
