whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Well they did win a lot of games. And he wasn't even pitching most of them
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 I think he thinks "This is probably my last meaningful paycheck and Steve Cohen wouldn't even notice if my market value disappeared from his wallet"
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 So the saxophone thing is new? I had never noticed it before, but thought that maybe it's more apparent in the ballpark than on TV. I thought it was effective... they played it every time a pitcher threw Ball Three, and it really emphasized how frequently the Padres were throwing Ball Three. Maybe it made them notice it as well. The atmosphere was festive throughout. It was the most fun I've had at a baseball game since October 25, 1986. Every fan was handed an orange THESE METS towel, which will make a nice souvenir from a memorable night. On the scoreboard they played videos of Al Leiter and Curtis Granderson reminiscing about their personal Mets postseason memories. I don't think anyone in the park was happy to see Darin Ruf in the starting lineup. Luckily, we won anyway. Our seats were in the Prominade, Section 505. The right field corner was obstructed, but in this game, not a whole lot happened there. https://www.leaptoad.com/mets/cards/2022WildCardGame2.jpg>

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 The sax sound effect is new. They started using it in the 2-game home series against the Marlins in late September.

The Mets won 101 games and are already one of baseball's best teams in only Cohen's second full season. If they're not scoring for deGrom, it's randomness. If he signs elsewhere for 2023, "non supporting teammates and horrible memories" will be the last reason. Or less than the last reason because this reason won't even register. deGrom might want to play for the Dodgers, for example, because right now and for at least the immediate future, the Dodgers franchise will be in better shape than the Mets franchise. But that's nothing like "horrible memories". And these Mets aren't the 2018 Mets anyways. Edited October 9, 2022 by Guest
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 By the saxophone, do you mean the opening notes of "Darkest Light" by The Lafayette Afro Rock Band, that has been sampled in something close to a gazillion hip hop tracks? Got to say the Citi Field PA system sounded louder on the the TV last night.
