I want to say Matt Kemp, but he didn't play in the 2006 NLDS.

Not even sure if he was even eligible as I'm looking at a list of 23 performers and 5 guys who were on a roster page, but not sure who was on there just because that was the most recent info the Mets or MLB had to print for the copies in 2006.

Yes to Andre Eithier. No to Matt Kemp.

Our remaining guy is a 2000 Giant and a 2006 Dodger and a former Met.

Roger Clemens (1986 Red Sox, 2000 Yankees)

Jeff Kent (2000 Giants, 2006 Dodgers)

Jim Edmonds (2000 and 2006 Cardinals)

Andre Ethier (2006 and 2015 Dodgers)

Greg Maddux (1999 Braves, 2006 Dodgers)

J.D. Drew (2000 Cardinals, 2006 Dodgers)

I am stumped.

Johnny Cueto was on the 2015 Royals and 2016 Giants (and may well have been on the wild card game roster) but of course didn't play in the game.

I remember Ramon may have started the last game at Shea (and several other games that week).

Luis Castillo was hurt? Bad? Both?

I think we can make arguments for and against all of them. Objective standards for judging managers (and coaches) are hard to come by. But I'm willing to hear any that folks might have.

(I'm definitely not a fan of Jerry Manuel.)

Will Smith was on the '16 Giants, is on the Astros.

There are probably a few other reliever types.

it's amazing how fast rosters can turn over.

Maybe it's how great Philip Seymour Hoffman was at being wormy slugs, but Moneyball made me want to place Art Howe further down the list, or up depending on what we are ranking ;)

Yeah, I mean, how to separate bad managers from bad teams, too. Like, Joe Torre helmed some shit ass Mets squads but was he a bad manager? I was 5-7 years old so I can't say.

DO-IT-YOURSELF QUIZ

This one is probably too easy, and has too few answers, for the usual one-guess-at-a-time format that we usually use. So I'll just pose the question and you can consider it a thought exercise. If you want to check your work, look at the teeny-tiny answer at the bottom of this post. If you don't want to squint, you can see it by copying and pasting to another app, or clicking the QUOTE button and seeing the answer in preview mode.

Of the Mets who have won the major awards: MVP (none yet, of course), Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, Gold Glove, and Silver Slugger, only three have not appeared in a postseason game for the Mets.

Who are they?

ANSWER: Doug Flynn, Gold Glove 1980; R.A. Dickey, Cy Young 2012; Pete Alonso, Rookie of the Year 2019.

Mets all time Top Twenty leaders in postseason play.

This lists combines all levels of postseason: Wild Card, NLDS, NLCS, and World Series.

When the Mets are about to begin a new postseason series, I'll post the leaders for whatever Series is about to begin. Needless to say, the leaderboards for the Wild Card series is pretty thin at the moment. If the Mets can fend off the Braves, we won't have to see that pathetic list. And if they don't, at least they'll have a chance to make that list somewhat less pathetic.

Active Mets players are listed in bold.

Or if both the Mets and Braves start faltering a lot and the Cardinals finish the season on a pretty close to historic run ;)
