The Innernet seems to be suggesting the Pirates have announced a starting lineup but not a starting pitcher. I'm penciling Oveido in there because that's who they were supposed to be going with and the dogs need to be walked.

Buck determined to ride his horses hard and put them away wet, running the same lineup out as game one (same order, too), apart from the pitcher and catcher.

I just picture Chavez and Buck watching Gore and Marrero take batting practice every day and thinking, "Yeah, I don't think they're gonna play today either."

One-zip on a bases-loaded walk and a real big chance to break the game open with a two-out hit here.

OE: Or, maybe, a fifth walk.

You got another run and the fifth walk but they were unrelated!

This is how we were scoring 'em early in the season.

All that's missing is a bases loaded HBP

The one big hit that ultimately opens up the spigot really makes it analogous.

Yeah that was encouraging. Having issues putting the slider where he wants it so he threw three perfect 99/100 mph fastballs all on the outside edge of the plate. That was lovely

I'd be happier still if we could score runs via a series of sequential singles and doubles, instead of just taking 27 cracks at a dinger like they've been doing.

And for all of the "not vintage deGrom" talk:

4 innings, 0 runs, 2 hits (one soft, one kinda soft), 5 K, 0 BB w/a low pitch count (49 - more than 20% of which were to one batter).

There's the tendency to not just hope for but epect near perfection. But not perfect is still real darn good.

oe: one K and his first BB while I was typing

Keith wants eight from deGrom. I don't think that's what Buck is thinking.

Seven innings and an inning each for Diaz and another underused bullpenner would be fine.

I found a magic lamp and rubbed it. I put the lamp in my pants first
