roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 No one's happier than I am--I hated Cano as a Yankee, as a Mariner, as a Met--but devil's advocate that I am, why not send Jankowski down now? Does he not have options? Is there some other reason this particular bullet had to be bitten today?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Jankowski does not have options. The team was forced to remove two players from the big league roster. The next best option was probably trying to sneak Trevor Williams through waivers.

Jankowski is the best defensive outfielder on the roster and the fastest runner BY FAR of the players who dont start most days. He is needed on the bench, unless you are replacing him with Kalil Lee.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Well, it's roger_that who brought up Travis J. He asked if Janky had options, and I replied that, nay, he doth not.

No way in hell, the Wilpons would have ate that salary. They almost assuredly would have optioned Guillorme or Davis, or possibly released Jankowski outright. It's great to have an ownership that makes decisions based on actual baseball considerations rather than financial ones. This

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 Do the Padres pick up his contract if they sign Cano, or is that still on the Mets books? Not that Cohen can't afford it.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2022 Author Posted May 12, 2022 Pads would pay the prorated minimum.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 3/23, all singles, 1 BB, 5 Ks as a Padre
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 doesn't mean much, but Smith hasn't been particularly good either. The Mets still need another bat.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 It appears the Padres are done with Cano as well. He's likely to decline a return to the minors and become a free agent. Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 Padres have indeed released Cano.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2022 Author Posted July 10, 2022 The Braves have traded for Robinson Cano, who's been getting his swing back with the El Paso Chihuahuas, the Padres' Triple-A affiliate.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 That's weird though. That's like one of those LA Law episodes where the try to throw the prosecuting attorney off her game by hiring her ex-husband to represent the defendant. Are the Braves not hot enough that they feel they need to fuck with the Mets' psyches?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 I've never seen an full episode of LA Law. Probably never a consecutive ten minutes tops.It would be humorous if he he tests positive next couple of weeks for something new and whatever.
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 It won't be humorous if he has three good games left in him but they're his next three games. Imagine paying a guy millions to take you out of first place for the first time all year.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Braves definitely trolling the Mets here. Watch him have a great series.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Robinson Cano in a Braves uniform is the best thing ever. They are welcome to anyone else we release, too.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Author Posted August 1, 2022 A thread title that works for multiple DFAs of Robinson Cano, this time by the Braves. In nine games with the Braves, Cano hit .154/.185/.192.https://sny.tv/articles/robinson-cano-mets-braveshttps://sny.tv/articles/robinson-cano-mets-braves
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Cano was 4 for 26 as a Brave.Three of those hits came in a seven AB span vs the Mets in his first two games with Atlanta. After that he went 1-fer-19
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 So, who's next? I'm going to guess, for no particular reason, Kansas City.
