Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 A 7:10 first pitch and a DH in the lineup. GKR theorizing that we'd see Dom Smith at 1B at least once and perhaps twice in this series, with the Piss Missile as the DH.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Luis Rojas is going to cite something about Alonso's improved defense, and repetitions or something, and mostly play Alonso at first, I'd wager on this.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Somebody wager him!I would, but I'm low on funds and have learned the hard way about wagering my body.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 I'm sure they'll analyze (really, advertise) the odds on the coming SNY coverage.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Dom worked out at 1B on Tuesday. I think that Pete will get at least one game as the DH. If Nimmo comes back he can play LF with Pillar in CF and Dom at 1B.The Mets flew to TB today, 2 days early. Meanwhile, the Rays have another game tomorrow night against the MFYs. I hope that it goes well past 10 innings and the Rays' 'pen is used even more than usual.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Seems like two. From last pitch Wednesday afternoon to first pitch tonight is like 52 hours. Too damn many!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Just remember how long those hours go following a loss, or in the midst of a losing streak.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 I think ashie meant two days off in the same week. Either way, this team should be well-rested.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 They take two out of three this weekend I'd be very happy. Rays are no pushovers.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 McNeil DHLindor SSConforto RFAlonso 1BSmith LFPillar CFVillar 3BMcCann CPeraza 2BOdd lineup in that we have a DH but Smith is still playing left field.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Is Nimmo back this weekend? Right now they have no real OF backups except Khalil Lee. So that explains Dom in left.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Well, McNoodle has played more left, and more outfield overall, than Smitty — and he's played better outfield than Smith — but I imagine they want to avoid deploying him in high gear if they can help it.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Peterson is doing a rinse and repeat of his last start.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Nice to get three quick outs on five pitches when all three batters ripped the ball.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Nobody should be getting away with the shift, but less than nobody should be able to get away with it against Lindor. He's got the wheels to lay down a bunt and run to first backwards.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Right, not anti-shift like some just befuddled why after all these years they don't hit it where they ain't. Mets un-perfecto through four innings.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 4 full innings in just a shade over one hour ... is that even allowed these days?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 That was a heckuva stretch over at 1B.Makes me realize that TB doesn't have that big Korean out there who was so entertaining to watch last October.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 Even McCann is hitting this palooka now
