Current forecast from The Weather Channel has the rain starting around 2 p.m. and perhaps not becoming heavy until 3.

It's a good thing the Mets have a crack team of meteorologists.

The percentages represent the chance of precipitation. It might be possible to squeeze in a three-hour game before the rain starts. The forecast seems to be moving towards a later start to the rain, so it's possible that by game time the window may extend to 4 or 5 p.m.

Tomorrow, in Denver, they're predicting 34° and a 38% chance of snow showers at 8 p.m., when the game is due to start. And more of the same throughout the night.

Now the rain isn't predicted to start until 4. It's looking more promising that they'll be able to play today. I just wish this uncertainty wasn't happening on a DeGrom Day.

So the Mets, like Peeping Toms and burglars, are looking for a window.

Well... when I posted an hour ago, the rain wasn't supposed to start until 4 p.m.

But now... it's raining. They're currently saying there will only be an hour or so this afternoon, between 2 and 3, when it won't be raining.

Now I got the Flinstones Rockenschpeel song in my head. I need help.

This thread title prompts the earworm "Do you like pina coladas? Seeing Jake in the rain?" For this reason, I'm grateful the game is postponed and this thread will fall away from the front page.

From Jake in the rain

To Jake in the snow

To Jake in the desert

Where the train don't go

From Jake in mud

To Jake in the ice

But just 57 pitches

If the weather is nice

I wasn't going for that, but if you insist...

If you like tarps over infields

Not seeing Jake in the rain

If you're hung up on Doppler

And clouds you can't ascertain

If you like sitting through Mets Yearbook

As SNY tries to vamp

Then you can handle postponements

And get all wet like a champ

The 2021 Mets: We play baseball every once in a while

Not one of their better marketing slogans, but perhaps more accurate than some.
