A question about record keeping...



I think this game is going to count as if it was played on April 11, not on August 31.



That means that this is the sixth game of the season, not the hundredth and something game.



So if Pete Alonso hits a home run, this will count in his April stats [statistics] instead of for August?



Yennsey Diaz made his Mets debut on May 23. If he appears in this game, does that mean that this becomes his first game as a Met?



This may even affect the April Schaefer results! Jacob deGrom's Player and Pitcher of the Month for April are unassailable, but it's possible that the Reliever and Bench awards may need to be changed retroactively.

All suspended games officially revert back to whence they begun. Jeff Reardon, for example, wound up debuting in June despite not being called up until August.



One of the peeves I developed in 2019 was reading how the Mets trailed the Cubs by 10 games in 1969 when it had always been reported as 9 1/2. That was the result of people looking up day-by-data on Baseball-Reference, which didn't account for the real-time daily standings that existed in ‘69. They just shoved a Cubs suspended game that was completed in September back into June, without delineating the difference. Retrosheet, however, gets it right.

The host on MLBN (the game is on MLBN) said, "technically it's not a doubleheader". If it isn't then why is the 2d game 7 innings? If the suspended game was resumed yesterday, when both teams were off, then the regular game would have been 9 innings but because the players' (I guess) decided to keep their day-off the regular game in a non-doubleheader is 7-innings.

So even though they are playing 2 games in one day this is not a doubleheader and the teams can add an extra player for the shorter game which is being played at the doubleheader length even though, again this is not a doubleheader.
