It's only been five games, but outside of Nimmo this lineup is not very inspiring.

That's how you recover after Thursday's loss: you don't waste energy by throwing at McNeil or Conforto, you square up when you have the opportunity, you throw tough pitches on 0-2, you get solid relief pitching, and you drive in runners when the opportunity is presented.

Jake deGrom struck out a career-high 14 batters this game.



Jake also gave up the first 0-2 count HR of his career.



Also, it was only the second time in baseball history that a pitcher struck out 14 batters without giving up a walk and took the loss; James Shields lost to the O's in 2012 while fanning 15 batters without surrendering a walk.
