Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Rubber game, you see. A 4:05 start, David Peterson vs. Aaron Nola.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 I am glad you posted this so I know now to watch it. 4pm your time is my sweetspot - dinner finished and tidy up done (with a bit of luck) and so perfect timing to relax of an evening
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Thought this was a one o'clocker, four o'clocker much better on a weekday.#lgm #ygb #ymdyf

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 The obvious first take on this is that McNeil is sitting.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Davis is likely resting after yesterday's hit-by-pitch. McNeil is more interesting, but I'm going to again suggest that it was Rojas' plan all along to break the seal on Villar for this game, which was supposed to be game six, rather than game three. Also interesting is who is not sitting, with McCann getting the day-game-after-a-night-game start.

But against a righthander? When are they scheduled to see their next lefty starter? Or is he is such a funk it wouldn't make a difference?Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 He's not particularly in a funk. He's hitting the ball hard most times up, but they just aren't dropping in.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 As noted above, I imagine it's just the scheduled day to get Villar into a game.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 He could have done that without taking McNeil out of the lineup, since Davis is sitting. I definitely see the point about getting Villar some playing time, but it seems Rojas also wants to give McNeil a day off.Speaking of McNeil, while watching the game yesterday I kept being reminded of Fman's revelation that McNeil does tiny little turds. Maybe that has something to do with the day off??
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 McNeil is pressing. I don't have a problem with this. Guillorme is going to be the backup third baseman (and the starter if JD gets of to a bad start).
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 David Peterson honoring Tim Peterson by pitching like an independent-league hurler
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Peterson on the fritz. Somebody get Mrs. Kekich up in the pen.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Looks like Peterson decided to have his sophomore slump all in one inning.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 I'd have pinch-hit there but I'd also have started McNeil so what do I know?
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 I was under the impression we TRADED Matz?
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 2 on, 0 out, Conforto strides to the plate. We got a STEW going.https://images.app.goo.gl/TLWSXXDA7zzR53uV6>
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Polar Bear with an RBI single. Smitty the tying run up
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Nice offspeed pitch to lock up Smith.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Once again, they get 'em on, but they can't get 'em in.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 It's so good that Luis felt the need to get Villar some ABs, especially at McNeil's expense.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 A Confortoswing would be a nice start.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Man, I'll never get over how much of the field teams are giving batters. McCutch could have bunted a double there.
