Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 There are primarily five "big names" that are being discussed as possible Mets in 2021.This is a PREDICTION thread, not a preference thread.Which combination of possibilities do you think will come to pass this offseason.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 LeMahieu, Springer and BauerAs a long time Mets fan, I think Cohen wants to show the MFYs there's a new sheriff in town by signing LeMahieu to establish some normalcy in the infield. And the Springer and Bauer moves are no-brainers.I would have picked just two, but there's that $20 million in new found money that can be used.Later
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Springer is the one guy they have to get.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 LeMahieu IS 32. Not arguing against, per se. Just bears noting.Realmuto SEEMS like he's a Met if the Phils don't put together something concrete soon, and they seem farther away from getting their front office in order than we do, but... why does this still not feel likely to me?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 I agree with CF on Springer. The other needs can be filled by other good players, but there is a very large gap between Springer and every other centerfielder on the market. I added LeMahieu, because second base suddenly has a "yes we're open" sign on it.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2020 Author Posted November 19, 2020 I voted Springer and Bauer.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 I voted Springer and Lindor. I think Cleveland will find that there are not many suitors, and the Mets will be able to take advantage. I think we go second tier pitcher, McCann, then upgrade the pen with either Hand, Hendricks or both.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 i went springer, realmuto, and bauer. i think of the three, bauer is the least likely to bank on, as there's other pitching out there thats closer to him, than are the options at C & CF. i think the cano thing helps the infield logjam, and helping that logjam makes it easier to not have to go after lindor to resolve it. getting lindor is a bonus that i wouldn't balk at. but getting the above three is more necessary, and more what i think they'll get. lemehieu is good, but i'm leery of long term with him.

Those are the only picks (that anyone selected) that can still end up being correct.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2021 Author Posted January 16, 2021 The number of possibilities narrows further with LeMahieu signing with the Yankees.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2021 Author Posted January 28, 2021 There are only two possibilities left here, Lindor Only and Lindor-Bauer. Which means that nobody made the correct prediction.
