Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Gary just reporting this now.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Not reported to the park. The team is unable to reach him.I'm hoping that he just didn't realize there was a day game, but WtF?!
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Tabloid headline derby, here we come
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Didn't report to the park? Don't they all stay in the same hotel and travel together? Assuming they beat on his hotel room door today, so it sounds like he bailed from the hotel at some point then. I hope he's ok.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Not for nothing, but they're on the road, so it's less likely that he's pulling a Harvey (as opposed to pulling an oblique or quad) so the personnel should be in mostly regular contact with/view of each other. So I'm guessing he either forgot it was a day game and went golfing, or maybe he got himself busted.I hope it's not worse.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 The Wild Boar is... ugg, nevermind hope he turns up safe and sound.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 So best case scenario, he went golfing and left his phone at the hotel. He's out of the Mets bubble now and would have to quarantine for how many days? The Mets would surely fine him, yall think they would suspend him for a game, too? I hope this is all it is.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 I'm monitoring Twitter.I HATE monitoring Twitter.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 You also don't want to go around twittering monitors, cuz those is mean lizards and if you get them mad they'll rip your lungs out Jim.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Maybe he overslept and is watching game in the hotel bar on TBS because he thought it best not to grab a covid cab.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Hoping he's not lying on the floor dead someplace.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 =ashie62 post_id=42567 time=1596391758 user_id=90]Maybe it is covid related
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 "No, I'm fine Brody, really [boar noises in background] I just had this thing to deal with [snort snort oink]"
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Jeez, can this organization get more fucked up? If you know he's okay, why do you send out that 'we can't find him' notice?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 They're working on their dysfunctional Wilponian spin as we speak?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Well, knowing he's been seen, if he has indeed been seen, doesn't particularly cancel "he didn't show up" or "we can't get in touch with him."
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 *insert Michael Jackson eating popcorn .gif*

And his cell phone got wet. I dunno. I just know that this'll be the biggest sports story in New York for the next 3 or 4 days.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Maybe he went to the same strip club Lou Williams went to in Atlanta. It is nearby

The Mets shouldn't need to lie or say 'no comment' because you didn't have the common decency to make a phone call. Don't like it? don't work in an industry where your job takes place on live television.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Brodie seemed prepared to address a question of whether Ces was unhappy being benched the other day, when he was asked about contract incentives
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Reports on ESPN say he disappeared like a thief in the night, he and his things were gone when the Mets sent someone to his hotel room. His agent called during the game to inform BVW.I hope a Diaz fastball finds his rear end wherever he plays next year. What an ass. You want to opt-out? do it like a professional.

Don't like it? don't work in an industry where your job takes place on live television. Also, being that Cess was supposed to be there, this is different than the last time the Mets had a case of AWOLing. That was a case of miscommunication with a hungover Harvey on a day Harvey didn't have to be at Citi Field. The only reason it became a thing in the media/social media platforms is because he got scratched from his start the next day because of disciplinary reasons. To Namor's point, the initial release was more staying on top of things by saying “we're aware that one of our players is not with us at Truist Field. We've tried contacting him, yyybbb.” Other wise it would be more of a #LOLMets thing, as opposed to a legit communication breakdown occurring and the Mets scrambling while saying “no comment” to the concerned media and fan base.
