Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 I was reviewing the "active" MLB parks, and I realized that I have no memory of anything that's ever happened in a Mets game at Angel Stadium, aka Angel Stadium at Anaheim, aka The Big A, aka Anaheim Stadium. It's the fourth oldest park in baseball, because nothing rots in Southern California, the Mets have played nine official games there, and I'm having trouble summoning any of them. They even have a winning record (5-4), but damned if I knew that without looking it up.What Mets memories do you have of Angel Stadium?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Willie Randolph's final game as Mets manager, Jerry Manuel's first. The latter laid down his gangsta law (2008).Jose Reyes with a grand slam as his first week in the majors wound down in support of Steve Trachsel's one-hitter, the day after Jason Roach was lit up (2003).A Saturday night extra-inning win preceding a dead-ass Sunday afternoon loss that I think Bartolo got knocked around in (2014).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2020 Author Posted May 7, 2020 Gosh, that's three.I'm disappointed that I couldn't have come up with the Randolph/Manuel transition.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 I remembered the Jerry situation and Reyes home run but whiffed on the Trachsel-Roach story. My other thought was the Marlon Anderson game but that was with the Angels not at em
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Reggie Jackson tried to kill the queen and Frank Drebin saved her. Other than that, I got nothing.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 My only memory of "Angel Staduim" is of the old Wrigley Field in Los Angeles (the first home of the Angels) where Home Run Derby was filmed. The new place?Nada.Later

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2020 Author Posted May 7, 2020 Jericho Turnpike is rather ugly, isn't it? It's a stressful place to walk, shop, park, or drive.Probably was a state-of-the-art suburban gem at one point. Or, at least, folks convinced themselves it was.
