Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Well, I don't have to be a Donnie Hart expert to guess that Pete Alonso was probably playing first base.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 And if his one appearance was on a day ending in Y, then Amed Rosario was probably his shortstop.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2020 Author Posted March 5, 2020 1B: Alonso2B:3B:SS: RosarioLF:CF:RF:C:Points for both of you! BUT -- Alonso actually didn't start the game. Todd Frazier started at first, and Alonso replaced him in the 7th. Rosario started and batted 6th.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 I'll say Buffalo Boy was catching

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 I seem to remember the game was a blowout (victory? loss?) and that would suggest that some regulars might have gotten pulled by the time he entered, but that's harder to do now that we have to have 18-man pitching staves.

We were up 13-1 when he entered the game. Faced three batters, retired them all via groundout. (One was to Rosario.)
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 There was also a Met injury in this game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Early August, right? That could be Dom Smith's or Robinson Canó's injury.Or maybe it was DOWN GOES FRAZIER!!!!, since we know that he left the game.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Didn't Donnie Hart have some R&B hits back in the 70s?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Jeff McNeil was probably playing and raking if we were winning by a bunch.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 We don't have to specify the position? Put me down for Michael Conforto.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2020 Author Posted March 6, 2020 1B: Alonso2B: McNeil3B:SS: RosarioLF: JD DavisCF:RF:C:Davis is correct. Conforto started in right, but left when we went up by 11.

LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 At the third base slot: down goes Frazier?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2020 Author Posted March 9, 2020 Okay, so apparently NOBODY remembers poor Donnie Hart, so Edgy was mostly right. The defense behind Mr. Hart in the eighth:1B: Alonso2B: McNeil3B: HechavarriaSS: RosarioLF: JD DavisCF: LagaresRF: AltherrC: NidoHart got Jacob Stallings to ground to short, Pablo Reyes to ground to second, and then pitcher Parker Markel, in his first major league AB, to ground to third.https://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=9302https://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=9302
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 I was ready to go with Lagares in center after you answered the 3b guess.it may be true that nobody remembers Donnie Hart pitching, but I think it's almost as true to say nobody remembers Adeiny Hechavarria playing third.
