LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 Yay! First odd as fuck spring training bit of business! And https://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/seth-lugo-broken-pinky-toe-1.41948768Lugo, no less![bLOCKQUOTE]The Mets were dealt their first weird injury of camp Tuesday when an X-ray revealed that reliever Seth Lugo has a fractured left pinky toe. He will take “probably” three days off from throwing, manager Luis Rojas said, and won't participate in at least the early exhibition games, which start Saturday.[/bLOCKQUOTE]
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Guessing he stubbed it on some hotel furniture.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Why do I get the impression that Lugo's toe could really affect Lowrie's availability going forward?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Jammed shoulder for JD Davis. MRI tomorrow. He says his level of concern is 2.5-3 out of 10.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Brodie says no damage, reassessed in a week. No, really.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Nimmo scratched for cardiac screening that doesn't sound at all alarming.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Brodie says no damage, reassessed in a week. No, really. To nitpick, no "new" damage. They found a labrum tear that they labeled as "old". I don't know how they can know that it was old since it wasn't detected until today and JD Davis had no idea he had it.And that doesn't sound suspicious at all.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 J.D. is fine. And will be missed.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Well, a cardiac furlough is ... concerning. And Lowrie himself has yet to appear in a game.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Nimmo undergoing more cardiac tests.Spring training is basically just six weeks of crossed fingers and fluff stories.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 The listing on Nimmo's official condition has changed from "crossed fingers" to "fluff story," as he gets clearance to go get 'em.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 Glad Nimmo's ok but jeez cardiac screening for young athletes is scary.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 It could be worse, the BoSox have (supposed) ace Chris Sale missing the early part of the season while he recovers from pneumonia (dude, the old folk's home called and they want their disease back) plusa Taiwanese pitcher who can't attend training camp because he's currently under quarantine to make sure he doesn't have coronavirus! No reports yet of either whooping cough or tuberculosis but I'll keep checking.

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Are you just elaborating or correcting me? Maybe scary was a little strong, the message was more glad he's ok and not having health issues. Hope that continues and that Matt has a speedy road ahead of him too.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 I look at the Stanton and Judge injuries and wonder if they are juiced
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Conforto to NY for Altchek exam after tweaking his side making a catch in a game that didn't count. FLA MRI not enough, apparently.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Conforto to NY for Altchek exam after tweaking his side making a catch in a game that didn't count. FLA MRI not enough, apparently.Heard that tonight (WFAN?). How does a major league player hurt himself making a catch when it doesn't involve diving for a ball or running into a wall?Has anyone heard if that is an old fashioned "Get a massage and hit the hot tub, you'll be fine" kind of tweak, or is it a Jed Lowrie "OH F**K NO!" kind of tweak?Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 The same way the same player dislocated his shoulder following through on a swing. Exertion can lead to stuff. You can injure yourself taking a poo. I heard that from some other person who is totally not me.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 If you keep those muscles properly trained, and exert them, then you should be fine. This is just what I've learned in my life.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 Right oblique strain for Conforto.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 Where would you say the line is on Opening Day?MetsRosterCentral currently has Céspedes, Conforto, and Lowrie penciled in for the opener, but it looks like those three are going to look a lot like Jarret Parker, Eduardo Nuñez, and Luis Guillorme.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 I miss being concerned with the status of Michael Conforto's oblique.
