Familia's back! Please clap.

Hanhold, who we hardly knew, returns to Syracuse.

Not at all.

I love Ramon Castro. I think he is my favorite backup catcher not named Todd Pratt.

Did you know he had a .774 OPS during his 5 years with the Mets? That's crazy. He'd be an All-Star with those numbers today.

I think of him primarily as LoDoca's backup catcher, but in reality, he both preceded him and outlasted him. And looking back, outhit the first string guy during his time here.

LoDuca Mets OPS: .739

Castro Mets OPS: .774

All of that comes from the drastic difference in 2007. LoDuca: 488 PA, .689 OPS. Castro: 157 PA, .887 OPS.

Were we clamoring for Castro to get more starts? It's frustrating that we fell a game short that year and gave three times as many PA to a guy with an OPS 200 points lower.

I think the rap on Castro was that he didn't have the "motivation" to be a starter, and he seemed to suck the few times he was pressed into action on an everyday basis.

I have no idea where that came from, but it's somewhere in my memory bank. May have been a WWSB comment.

In honor of the English Premier League ending its season on Sunday (Manchester City hung on to outlast Liverpool for those of you who haven't called SPORTSPHONE yet) I think it would be cool to hear baseball called by British soccer announcers.

Hellickson thought he was going to get away with a clean sheet for the first inning but, following the assistance of the 'Video Referee', his hopes were dashed by a lovely ball struck by the Venezuelan international Wilson Ramos

Sure is an interesting start. Alonso doesn't ordinarily make that play. And it's nice to see Noah not give back those runs.

Nothing else going on that I can think of.

Nimmo and Frazier both in the hit column tonight, though.

In fact, during the game, Frazier has passed Syndergaard in batting average.

Frazier also hit that weak-ass groundout w/no-out and runners on 2nd & 3rd when just about anything else would have plated a run.

The Mets will pickup in the table on all the NL East teams if the in-progress scores all hold.

And with the next nine fixtures all being NL East teams, there's a chance for some real progress coming up.

HEY! I learned to drive on my dad's Packard, but it was a 1953, had an automatic transmission, and ran just fine.
