Is this the record for "new guy hurts himself"?

I feel like Scott Erickson, apart from coming up injured while warming up for his debut, also got hurt at the top of his first (and only) Mets camp.

Brandon Nimmo has reportedly been held out of practice with shoulder soreness.

Diagnosis is left knee capsule sprain. Opening Day probably Jedless. Good news is if Lowrie's out long enough, getting him back will be like "adding a Jed Lowrie" at the deadline.

Or "with the Lowrie insurance money added to that from Wright and Cespedes, the Mets could be in position to significantly add to payroll in 2020..."

Todd Frazier has an oblique strain. Will get a cortisone shot. No timetable for return, increasing the chances that when he does recover, "it will be like adding a Todd Frazier at the trade deadline."

Maybe now the Mets'll sign Manny Machado.

Brandon Nimmo dealing with bad reaction to chicken he didn't thoroughly cook. Only the Mets, huh?

Or anybody, actually.

(channeling Fmann) He would have been better off just choking his chicken.

Every team has an instance of this every season. Usually they just call it "stomach flu," which isn't a thing.

Amed Rosario hit in hand by pitch in Red Sox game, leaves game, goes for x-ray.

Rosario's x-ray negative.

Also, Nimmo's back from his virus that it has been confirmed was not chicken-related.

Callaway expressed non-concern, though that could also not mean anything.

Lowrie getting better. From Matt Ehalt:

Infielder Jed Lowrie (left knee) hopes he can begin baseball activities soon while Todd Frazier (left oblique) took ground balls for the first time Thursday since being sidelined.

“Making good progress," Lowrie said. "Hopefully with a little bit of testing and making sure things are progressing well, I can begin baseball activities soon.”

Lowrie has been participating in lower-half exercises that he described as low impact. He did not want to speculate on whether he'll be ready for opening day.

“I'm looking at what I can do today because I think the focus has to be on getting this right so there's not a recurrence," Lowrie said.

Lee Mazzilli spent the night in the hospital after taking a batted ball off the noggin in Tampa. Hopefully he comes out OK.
