It was the right thing to do. Harvey may right himself some day, but he will hit free agency before that happens. Mesoraco has been a net positive, and will be a big positive if his BABIP regresses to the mean.

If there was a mistake, it was that the readiness of Vargas to come off the DL and jump into the rotation at that time was overestimated. But Vargas will outperform Harvey the rest of the way.

It's heartbreaking. I know he's a goofball, but a lot of them are goofballs. He was a special talent, one of the best pitchers in baseball, and it's sad to see him taken down by injuries -- and maybe his own inability to change the way he pitches based on his physical changes. I don't rejoice in his struggles.

it WILL WORK!

But is it worth it to clone him if his arm and rib are going to fall apart again? I guess the second time around we'd could trade him before that happens.

I think other teams would be on to us though. We'd have to disguise him somehow.

He'd have the same pea-brain, so he'd make the same shit-ass life choices. I'd prefer to not relive that.

Yeah, but if you clone him from a rib, you get a woman.

There is precedent.

Some controversy regarding his selected walk-up songs. Selected by the Braves organist, not him.

Maybe a little trolling is a bad thing. If anything is going to turn Harvey into Harvey again, it's going to be raising his level of anger above his level of self-pity.

you missed spelled 'increased velocity', which actually has been creeping up. 2ks in 6.1 though. When he has a stretch of 3+ starts with a K/9 above 9 I'll believe he's "better".

Harv has actually been doing fairly well since the trade [5-3; 3.64; 1.17 over 12 starts] and better still if you ignore those first couple starts for Cincy [~2.40 ERA over last 6 starts/34 IP] but today's
clunker vs Pittsburgh [8 earned on 8 hits, 2 HR in 3-2/3 IP ... ouch!] isn't going to help him or help the (43-56) Reds who are hoping to re-flip him before the deadline.

Yeah, that's what Justine told me was an upside to the Mets moving fast with Familia. He couldn't really add much to his CV with a few more good appearances, but one bedshit and the market could drop out on him.
