Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Mets go for two in a row. Noah versus someone not as awesome as Noah.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 1st meeting of the Tuesday Night Mets Club in 2018.Took advantage of early season dynamic pricing and snagged some 300 levels behind first.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 The Braves might consider these "statement" games against the 1st place Mets. It's time to put them in their place and remind them that they are playing for next year.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Looks like we're getting the Braves #3 (according to MLB) prospect Mike Soroka, who just got the call up today. 6' 5", hard-throwing righty. Has 1.99 ERA at AAA with 9.5 K/9.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Quickie scouting report from John Sickels: Soroka was drafted in the first round (28th overall) in 2015 from high school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His rise through the system has been extremely rapid for a high school arm: Low-A in 2016, Double-A in 2017 at age 19, now Triple-A and the majors in 2018 at age 20 (not 21 until August)His performance has been excellent especially given his youth. He holds a career 2.85 ERA in 353 innings with a 311/76 K/BB. This includes a 1.99 ERA in four starts for Triple-A Gwinnett in 2018 with a 24/5 K/BB in 22.2 innings.https://www.minorleagueball.com/2018/5/1/17308038/mlb-rookie-profile-mike-soroka-rhp-atlanta-bravesSo that'll be two 20 year-olds (Soroka & Acuna) plus a 21 y/o (Albies) in the starting lineup tonight. Even for a franchise known for signing them young and promoting them fast, that's highly unusual and you'd probably have to go back a while before you can find a similar circumstance aside from maybe some September games. I'm sure Gary will be all over the specifics of exactly when/who this last happened.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 A first major league start against the Mets usually results in something like 6 shutout innings on two hits. Prove me wrong, Metsies.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Ugh, this is supposed to be one of the two good starts.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 I’m think this one might get overturned.Oops. Wrong.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 You've got to put your runners in motion there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Nido runs like a catcher.A veteran catcher.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Wasn't really worthy of the pepper grinder, there, AG.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 I bat Reyes before Flores to avoid the DP, but the wild pitch obviates all that.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 That Rosario AB--maybe telling him to fake bunt was too much for him considering how badly he's hitting.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Cray-yup!(Sorry. That was my best Southern accent)Later
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Probably would have been better to just let Rosario hack.
