The first-place Mets host the fourth-place Nationals, whom the Mets lead by six games (seven in the loss column), Monday night at 7:10 PM. The probable pitchers are Jacob deGrom for the home team and Jeremy Hellickson for the visitors.

Jeremy Hellickson pitched to a 5.77 ERA last year. Gotta get this first game. If the Mets bats stay silent we are in for a long series.

If I'm Mickey, I play Nimmo and give Cespedes the night off.

Fios1 Weatherbro just assured me that both the Mets and Skanks will play
tonight and this current deluge will be over in time.

I heard the Nats signed long time pain-in-the-Mets-ERA Marc Reynolds.
Is this true, and will he be ready for this series?

Because the baseball gods are crazy, with the Mets missing both Scherzer and Strasburg this series, the Nats'll probably sweep the Mets.

And they miss Thor, so it's all fair.

Bruce's plantar fasciitis has flared, but is available to PH. Cespedes getting the night off.

If I could afford it and didn't have kids to get back to I'd be all over tonight's game. Probably a prime opportunity to roam around relatively unimpeded.

I wouldn't rest Cespedes on the same night Bruce sits. Notwithstanding what I said before.

Not a bad send by Sherlock.
Would have wanted him held if no outs and definitely sent if two. One out makes it a bit of a gray area but I can't fault him for the out.

Nine-pitch plate appearance ends in a base hit by Cabrera.

I imagine Hellickson is on something like his last batter.

would have really liked to SCORE there, but chasing the starter in the 5th inning of game 1 of a 3 games series has merit too.

I don't think I realized that Lobatron was a switch hitter but if you're inventing baseball playing robots you may as well make them versatile.

Reyes still needs to do some tutoring on baserunning with Rosario.

If Rosario shaved that awful beard he'd be aerodynamic enough to make that

Well, the SB we got away with was the Lagares swipe of 3rd. Not only was he out but it was a bad idea to begin with.
But, as tends to happen so far in 2018, it all worked out for us.
