Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Dominic Smith is suffering from a strained right quad, almost certainly sustained on that dynamite stretch he performed yesterday. He has an MRI (which stands for "a Met is Really Injured") scheduled.AlsoJuan Lagares: strained lefty hammy, day-to-day.Tim Tebow: sprained ankle, day to day, taking batting practice.Jay Bruce: plantar fasciitis, day to day.Longer-Term DudesMichael Conforto: dislocated shoulder, aiming for May 1, hitting against soft-toss pitching.T.J. Rivera: torn UCL and Tommy John surgery, aiming for the second half, should begin throwing shortly.David Wright: spinal stenosis, disc fusion surgery, rotator cuff surgery, actively rehabbing, allegedly back to his playing weight, return is anybody's guess.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Bruce: Plantar fasciatis. That's one of those pestering injuries that could really linger. Here's hoping it doesn't.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 25, 2018 Author Posted February 25, 2018 In the great tradition of Mickey Mantle and Eliott Maddox, Tebow's ankle injury is the result of an unfortunate interaction with a sprinkler head.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 The good news is that Tim Tebow is on the "extras" list for today's game.

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 the beating goes on...Mets RH reliever Anthony Swarzak left Tuesday's game against the Astros in the top of the third inning due to an apparent injury.Swarzak ran to cover first base on a grounder to first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, but was unable to catch what was an on-target toss from Gonzalez that would have ended the inning.Swarzak was then visited by the trainer and departed the game.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Start the pretend games early, get the injuries out of the way early. Brilliant strategy. Plenty of time to heal.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Mickey sez JdG needs 5 starts to be ready for OD. Daily Snooze says in order to get 5 starts he needs to begin no later than this Sunday. Sunday's start rests on how his scheduled throwing session goes this week.

Or they can decide he's good to go but they'll limit him to 85 pitches for his first start of the season.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 And if deGrom starts the fourth or fifth game of the season instead of the first or second, it's no big deal at all. We just have to hope that this doesn't turn out to be more serious than they're saying. (When has that ever happened?).

(When has that ever happened?).a billion times. it's the norm, but you instantly forget when it doesn't become more serious because it doesn't become more serious.deGrom's already saying his side session went fine and he doesn't see any reason why he wouldn't be ready to go.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 I think you misread me. I certainly wasn't saying that injuries never turn out to be minor. My "when has that ever happened" was a sarcastic reference to injuries becoming more serious than first reported.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 1, 2018 Author Posted March 1, 2018 Supporters of baby farm animals everywhere are outraged this morning, responding to reports of Anthony Swarzak allegedly straining his left calf. This strain has been confirmed by MRI (Maddening Results Inevitable). He is receiving treatment, no timetable for return. But hey! Things are looking up for Jamie Callahan! Boy howdy!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 2, 2018 Author Posted March 2, 2018 So deGrom got his throwing in, putting him back on schedule for opening day, Mr. Plantar Fasciitis is planted in right for today's lineup, and Lagares is taking his hammies out to center. If they make it through today, things could be looking up. Get Céspequads out of the dh spot and into left once or twice next week, and we might be in business.
