  4. That DP was sweet. Mets lead after one, 0-0.

  8. How many have signed up to be involved so far?
  9. Aww--Id love to attend that game! I seperated my sternum playing shortstop on Doubleday Field in a collision with my brother, who was playing leftfield. Wasnt really a collision. I just fell down chasing a pop up and he tripped and fell on top of me,lol.
  10. ="Yancy Street Gang"]="HahnSolo"]I have that Agee card, and I think it is one of those Topps specials, in which they try to fake us into believing he's in an Astro uniform when he's really not. The red on the hats and socks were colored in. Yes, folks, I believe that came from his time as a Met. That could be Buddy at short, right? It makes sense, too, b/c that card is from the 1973 set, and Agee played all of 1972 as a Met I believe. That could be. I have that card somewhere too. If the card has a high number on the back, then it could have been taken during the 1973 season. But you're right, it's probably a shot of him as a Met with the caps and socks painted. I wasn't aware that Topps did that with action shots. We've certainly seen many examples of head shots with painted caps, and sometimes rather poorly done. Yea, thats one a those Topps painted cards, but they didnt just paint a hat on him, they went for the whole uniform. And yea, thats Buddy or Boswell and Rusty behind him.

    Glavine

] Glavine's deal calls for a $7.5 million salary next year and contains a $9 million player option for 2008 that would become guaranteed if he pitches 160 innings next season. The price of the option would increase by $1 million for each additional 10 innings up to a maximum price of $13 million. If the option isn't exercised, he gets a $3 million buyout. Glavines back. Excellent. Braves didnt even offer him a deal.
  12. ugh--this bummed me out. He was pretty crucial.

  15. cooby wrote: I have to agree with you there; Harry Parker was just awesome, and who ever talks about him? His mom, I guess. Won 8 games in 73, and pitched fine in the post with no wins to show for it. Im sure Pete Rose would have something to say about good ol Harry.
  16. MFS62 wrote: I remember when all three Alou brothers played in a game against the Mets. The fans in the stands would yell "Hey Alou! Which Alou are you?" Yes, I'm an old fart. sigh - thanks for reminding me. Later I remember Jesus (pronounced Ass-oose) Alou was the one with the kink in his neck.
  17. cooby wrote: ........ it was my favorite season Mine as well. There's definitely a story there. Making Tug the focal point would be too easy. Id write it thru the eyes of George Theodore or Harry Parker.
  18. I cant explain why, but I find this funny. Soriano on the Cubs. Ha.

    Alou

Alou is one of the most uninspired players Ive ever seen play the game. Right up there with JD Drew. This move sucks.
  20. Im curious to know if and what the changes will be before I commit one way or the other. But if a response is needed now, count me out. Too much maintenance needed.
  21. The Mets have expressed interest in free agent Mark De Rosa. De Rosa turns 32 in Feb. He batted .296 with 13 homers for Texas last season, playing 26 games at 2nd base. (He played 60 games in RF). He has played 114 games at 2nd base during his career. He commited one error at 2nd in 2006 and eight errors at 2nd during his career. ____________________________________________________ The only thing I like about this is the guy plays 2nd base and RF.
  22. The thing that stands out in my mind about this whole deal is after all of Sheffs threats towards the Skanks and any team that aquired him, all he had to say about the trade was: "I was ecstatic because I get reunited with the people that Ive always loved. They're business-minded. They're smart people. They're respectful people. They treat you like men. That's what you want to be around. To reunite with them after 10 years is a blessing." Cripes, the guys a case. He has baggage full of issues.
  23. Opinion: I hated Stanton. He sucked. Fact: Numbers retired by the Mets: 37(Stengel)/14(Hodges)/41(Seaver)/42(J.Robinson-retired by MLB). Although not officially retired, two other numbers are being held out of circulation: '8' for Gary Carter (since his 2003 induction into the Hall of Fame) and '24' for Willie Mays (for 25 seasons after his departure* and since the year 2000), *Rickey Henderson (99&'00) and Kelvin Torve (10 games in '90) wore '24' during their brief stints with the Mets.
