  3. Actually it's unisexy.
  4. Oh yeah, that's even more out of touch than I remembered.
  5. Lost in all this Willie Randolph discussion is that there is a Great Rey O Debate going on somewhere in this thread.
  6. Never noted here is that Giambi went on to win the Comeback Player of the Year in 2005 and had a decent 2006 as well.
  7. I'm frickin' wetting my pants with laughter. Does "@#$%! Weve got a lead!" translate as: "Fuck yeah, we've got a lead!" said in pure excitement Or "Shit, we've got a lead!" as in it ruins their cunning plan to snag high draft picks.
  8. Didn't M. Donald Grant try to argue in a press conference that Seaver was actually NOT the Franchise, which while literally correct, proved that Grant was out of touch with the fans and the needs of the team.
  9. The first players' strike came to an end with an agreement for a $500,000 increase in the pension fund.
  10. Centerfield wrote: I wish "Yankees Suck" would stop being a time-honored tradition. We went further than they did last year. They should be chanting about how we suck. You forget about "26 rings, that's all that matters!!!!"
  11. holychicken wrote: Imagine a game where two pitchers throw perfect games into the 9th and then in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs the guy pinch-hitting for the pitcher hits a homerun. That sounds like a beautiful game that I would like to see.
  12. I'd rather race for the pennant against the Phillies than the Braves.
  13. You guys are so wonderfully geeky. I don't think I could ever fathom what you're doing but more power to you.
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: Well that's what happens when you start threads like that too early ... but we're still gonna find that fuckin' GSLC and feed him to that hungry octopus. Sorry, I saw that thread and thought it was just another poll by SJR that annoyed everyone. I didn't scroll down far enough to see that there were assignments in it as well. My mistake. This of course is another reason why it is important for everyone to take ownership of threads they want to preserve by a) keeping them active, bumping them, and/or c) letting me know you don't want it archived by posting a message and/or pm'ing me. It's all very simple. I've mentioned this many times before but (except for Scarlett Knight) no one ever does this, thus I have little sympathy for people who bitch after the fact.
  15. Alou 3 Glavine 1.5 Reyes 3 Smith 1 Wagner .50 Wright 1
  16. "It's one of our quaint American traditions for woman to lean over to the man next to her and kiss him with tongues after the the 3rd, 5th, and 8th innings."
  17. I've got Glavine penciled in for 30 wins easy.
  18. This looks like the relevant rule: ]3.03 A player, or players, may be substituted during a game at any time the ball is dead. That seems vague enough for what CF proposes could be done since the ball is dead in-between pitches.
  19. Beltran .50 Reyes 2.5 Sele 2.5 Smith 1.5 Valentin 1.5
  20. Yup, you closes these things too soon for us mathematically challenged folk.
  21. What will you try in April? I've been reading Comics Curmudgeon too long to have this be the first thing that comes to mind (not literally).
  22. Wright lost a lot of points from me due to excessive LOBbage.
  23. Sorry, I did not intend to mislead anyone into believing this was really Lou Reed, but it does seem to capture an spiritual Reedness that it really is Lou even if it wasn't written by him. BTW, I thought Edgy would love this link so I'm surprised he hasn't commented.
  24. ="cooby"]="Gwreck"] the song played after victories (this year's Takin' Care of Business) is I Just Want to Celebrate by Rare Earth. Good, I never did like that song. Ditto and Amen. "TCB" just grates on my nerves. I'll take Motown over that any day.
