  1. Curt Schilling responds in his blog 38 Pitches (which is actually a blog worth reading).
  2. Chavez 2.5 Easley .50 Feliciano .25 Green 2.5 Reyes 3.5 Smith .25 Valentin .50
  3. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I'm surprised it took you until late April to make that prediction this year. I'm falling down on the job.

I predict the Yankees will be en fuego come July/August while Boston, et al flop. The Yankees will win the AL East by a wide margin and then storm through the postseason to hoist world series trophy #27. Jeter & A-Rod will share MVP honors.
  5. I didn't even notice it was spelt wrong.
  6. It's still there.
  7. Ump's got a date. Or at least he wants to eat.

  12. The Squid will be swimming in around 4 this afternoon to do the weekly archive. Threads that haven't been active since March 27th will be archived offsite unless a) the Squid likes them, you bump the thread, or c) you send me a pm telling me you'd like a particular thread saved in Featured Archives or NBF classics. Thanks!
  13. Don't ask me I'm just a follower.
  14. The Magic 5 continue to start but Alou sits in lieu of last night's hero, Chavez.

  17. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Bell was less than a throw-in.Normally a throw-in is somebody that the sending team uses to sweeten the deal for the recipient. In Bell's case, though, the Astros told the Mets that if they wanted Hampton they'd have to also take Bell. He was more of a bitter pill than a sweetener. Is that true? If so, it's pretty funny/sad. I liked Bell too.
  18. ="Gwreck"] Misc. Willets, the U2 isn't for El Duque, it's the song they use when everybody takes the field (last year it was Start Me Up, by the Stones.Gary and Ron commented that Hernandez timed his exit from the dugout to be in synch with the line "Hello, hello..." in ths song. May just be coincidence but that is what I was commenting on.
  19. Ok, I'll start: Similarities: 1. Not much was expected of either when acquired over the offseason other than a veteran bat and outfielder. 2. Both started the season extremely hot. Differences: 1. Less was expected of Bell who was basically a throw-in in the Hampton deal. Alou is expected to be a least as important as Cliff Floyd was last season. 2. Alou has had a much better career overall than Bell. 3. SNY showed a stat that Alou is hot at the start of the season but tends to hit well all-season long. In other words, a hot start presages a good season (albeit we can't expect the .400 BA to last). 4. Alou probably won't pitch this season. 5. Bell to my knowledge never peed on his hands.
  20. Fuckin'-A Endy!!!!!
  21. A walk for Wright. Getting on base won't count for much in this situation but it keeps the inning alive.
  22. It does come Easley!!!
  23. The linescore says we're losing right now.
