  1. I would prefer the Mets to have gone with a one year deal to Robertson over the cast of retreads they have signed to minor league deals. He could have been a nice addition to a bullpen in dire need of quality arms.
  2. Well, it appears that Robertson was a pipe dream (for me anyway). Reports have him agreeing to a 1 year deal for $11-12 mil. with the Rangers.
  3. =MFS62 post_id=145458 time=1705758400 user_id=60] =G-Fafif post_id=144977 time=1705126617 user_id=55] Diego Castillo DFA'd to clear space for Sean Manaea.

Retired numbers should be strictly limited to individuals who make the Baseball Hall of Fame as a Met. You could maybe make an exception for a beloved player who played an entire career with the team. I agree with this. I'd make the exception for David Wright.
  5. =metirish post_id=144437 time=1704637026 user_id=72] That's a scary rotation
  6. I hope the Mets will make clear that they have zero interest in his services. If the Mets were to sign this ass, I would have to pull against them to get hammered, humiliatingly, every time he takes the mound.

  8. Taking a shot in the dark @ #4 Shawn Estes
  9. I know that, first and foremost, the Mets need starting pitching. However, the bullpen could still use some improving and added depth. I think pairing Robertson with Diaz would greatly enhance the back end of the pen. He would take some stress of Diaz in his return from injury and he would be a nice insurance policy if Diaz struggles upon his return.
  10. Edgy MD wrote: Picture Jacob deGrom, except with a devastating hook, finishing his own games. Gooden not only finished his games, just as importantly, he could be counted on to make his scheduled starts (year after year).
  11. Worth a short term deal. He could be a great improvement over Vogelbach as the Mets primary DH in every way other than OBP.
  12. I am looking forward to hopefully seeing all three of them soon. Ultimately, I had to go with Jett Williams. He intrigues me and I "adopted" him.
  13. Well, being smart isn't against the law and might have helped him avoid such a mess.
  14. Unfortunately, trades could come at the expense of the very prospects the Mets are relying on to bolster their farm system and become key components of the parent club in 2025 and beyond.
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I voted third. Behind the Braves and the Phillies, but ahead of the Nationals and Marlins. Yup. My thought's exactly.
  16. Best do it in 2024, I've heard late January 2025 it will be banned. Frayed Knot wrote: It was more like Benigno got his job at FAN by winning a contest Yup ©, of course... Can't even imagine the contestants that lost... Bunch of future Trump supporters.
  17. I think he is worth a look for a one or two year deal. Could serve as right handed DH and insurance at third base, should Baty/Vientos fail to take ownership of the position.
  18. I have a feeling it is Yamamoto or bust for the Mets this off-season. I'm afraid that the Dodgers or Yankees land Yamamoto and the Mets will end up landing a few mid-level free agent pitchers or reclamation projects (Giolito, Kluber, Keuchel, Paxton, etc) as they save their money for up for a big push in 2025 when (they hope) all the youngsters will be ready to shine. I'm afraid the big acquisition this off season will end up being the return of Edwin Diaz. I, which can be huge, assuming their are enough leads for him to save and turn into team victories. I sincerely hope I am wrong.
  19. Michael Tonkin and Donovan Antonia of the December 5th transactions look like twins.
  20. The way his right leg gave out, when he tried to stop and return to first, looked pretty bad. Luckily, he was able to eventually walk off under his own power. Hopefully just a mild strain or sprain. The Mets can't afford to lose any of their players.
  21. I'm with Frayed Knot on this one. I have no memory of him, but after reading the memories of others here (and looking him up on Baseball Reference) it doesn't appear that I missed out on much.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: "Now we're ready to talk." — Pete Alonso Has anyone seen Pete pitch? There is no player worth that kind of money, not even Ohtani.
  23. =metirish post_id=142566 time=1702154843 user_id=72] It's absolutely nuts , glad it's not the Mets in for that
  24. Best pitcher of his generation not to win a Cy Young award. Marichal's best seasons coincided with Koufax 's best seasons. Google up Marichal's Time mag and SI covers to get a good look at that famous leg kick. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fsicovers.com%2Ffeatured%2Fsan-francisco-giants-juan-marichal-august-09-1965-sports-illustrated-cover.html&psig=AOvVaw0m13ZBAynu5wUGUQV0uCjs&ust=1701646362866000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CBIQjRxqFwoTCPCJ85f18YIDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE> Very unique motion. Dontrelle Willis, when he came up with the Marlins, had the closest leg kick to that in recent years.
