  1. Seemed like a good guy. Willing to do whatever he could to help the team. Could play both corner outfield position and in a pinch could step in and play either third or first base. Smart, heady player. A good 4th outfielder, not such a good starting outfielder. I wish him well.
  2. The best thing about unloading Max is the money it frees up for next year. Max still has his moments, but he is far from the pitcher he was even 2 years ago. I don't expect him to be better next year. Time takes it's toll.
  3. The only person in the Mets 2023 bullpen that I had cahn-fidence in.
  4. The Braves just keep on rolling, as the beat the Brewers 4-2 today. they bring up yet another prospect, reliever Daysebel Hernandaez, who strike out the first 3 batters he faced in his MLB debut. The Braves are a well oiled machine that just keeps rolling forward.
  5. Ottavino with a 1-2-3 9th to seal the victory.
  6. =nymr83 post_id=132217 time=1689813386 user_id=54] lets hope Verlander can give he pen a good rest after Carrasco hung em out to dry last night
  7. Abner left his 14 year old Huskey at home without having anyone check on it or care for it while he was away for a month. Unfortunately, the poor dog died. What an irresponsible dumb ass. Whatever time he served for animal cruelty, wasn't sufficient.
  8. =nymr83 post_id=131078 time=1688780937 user_id=54] Padres uniforms are hideous

Senga seems at his best with free swingers that will chase bordrline pitches and his forkball. This helps to keep his pitch count down. A line up of patient , disciplined hitters (like the Diamondbacks) are very likely to run his pitch count up pretty quickly. I hope I am wrong. Shows how little I know. Glad it worked out and Senga had a great outing.

  11. Fire Steve Cohen Are you longing for the "good old days" when the Wilpons were pinching every penny. The teams generally weren't burdened with high expectations, so there was no need to get too upset when they proved to be pretenders. Well, this year has been very disappointing, but I have far more faith that Cohen's ownership will improve the Mets than I did under the Wilpon regime.
  12. I always liked Escobar. He seemed like a good guy and a good teammate. He just never was able to produce offensively on a consistent basis.
  13. 8 of 9 for the Rays. Just like the Mets who are on a 8 of 9 roll of their own. The Mets are putting the pedal to the metal, they're just stuck in the wrong gear.
  14. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=128375 time=1686427152 user_id=68] Worst day of the season: this embarrassing annihilation of a loss and then finding out that Alonso's gonna miss about a month of baseball. Is this team even watchable without Polar Pete?
  15. Well, in a crucial series in Atlanta against the division leading Braves we at least showed them what we are made of. We came, we saw, we got our asses kicked.
  16. New Reds phenom, Elle De La Cruz blistered Noah, or at least virtually every pitch he threw for a strike last night.
  17. I am not the least bit surprised that the Rangers find themselves paying an exorbitant amount of money for a few innings of stellar pitching from DeGrom. I'm just glad it isn't the Mets that are on the hook for his contract. Jake is a phenomenal talent. During his increasingly rare periods of health, he is a generational talent. He just isn't someone a team can or should count on. I am sorry to see him suffer a serious injury and wish him an full recovery.
  18. This time really needs some shaking up. I am starting to think last season was a mirage, where everything gelled and fell into place (at least until late September). The loss of Diaz has been huge and has had a dominoe effect on the bullpen, but that alone can not account for the Mets lackluster performance. The offense just has not been sufficient (even with the addition of Alvarez and Baty) for the majority of the season. The loss of Diaz completely changes the bullpen dynamic, but not much can be done about that right now. The offense really needs a boost. I would send Vientos back down and give Mauricio a shot. He could spell Lindor (who definitely could use a day or two off) as well as take some at bats at DH. I'm not sure there is an answer to the pitching other Max and Verlander both turning back the clock. Unfortunately, even that isn't likely to make enough difference. Senga needs more consistency (and he needs to stop walking so many hitters). Then there is the lack of quality innings from Megill and Peterson. They just haven't provided the rotation depth that is needed for a team to be successful. The failure of the starting rotation to reasonably go 6-7 innings has caused overworking of the bullpen, which lacks the depth to pitch 4 or more innings on a regular basis.

So welcome the Hell back to Liam Hendricks. Quite inspiring, considering all he has been through. I wish him all the best going forward.
  20. Rather happy I opted to knock out some yard work, instead of watching the game.
  21. Pete needs to take one deep.
  22. well, that was painful to watch. 1st and 3rd with no outs and top of the order feebly goes down without threatening to score.
  23. Cahna with a solid single and a steal of second to open the inning. Alvarez reaches on an erro and the Mets have 1st and 3rd with no out.
  24. McNeil with a hustle double.
  25. I wish they had delayed it a little longer. Springer quickly makes it 1-0 Blue Jays after 1 batter.
