Regardless of who the Yankees are matched up against, I could never bring myself to pull for them. My favorite teams are the Mets and secondarily, whoever is playing the Yankees. Go Guardians!
Lindor is the man. He is the heart and soul of the Mets. Ohtani may have had an unbelievable, historic season, but no one has been more valuable or important to the success of his team than Fracisco Lindor has been (and is) to the Mets.
This team has made remarkable run in the second half of the season to put themselves on the precipice of the playoffs. Now the offense suddenly reverts to May form and all their hard work is slipping away. So often of late the Mets seem to spit the bit when staring down the Braves late in the season with a playoff spot on the line.
The Mets bench is really thin on left handed bats, but I would give Winker the start at DH over Martinez. Wheeler is a tough assignment and Winker hasn't been hot of late, but Martinez looks absolutely lost and overmatched the past month (or more).
If I was the manager, I would without question go with Quintana as long as he is healthy. I wish I could go with Senga, but he has said that he will not be strong enough to go 5-6 innings at a time. If he can only go 35-30 pitches at a time, then he will be better suited for an inning or two of high leverage relief every few days.
Former Met with the most career Home Runs by player with last name "Z" before Ryan Zimmerman broke it - Todd Zeile Too late to the party. After I posted this, I now see that Johnny Lunchbucket already got this one. Still, pretty happy that I knew this one.
