  1. I was amped to watch the Mets go for an 8th straight win, then I tried to sign in to MLB.com. I had forgot that I am blocked by MLB for all Washington and Baltimore games. Not only can I not see the game, but the Mets are trailing at present. Not Happy.
  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'm more optimistic about Soto and Vientos than I am about Nimmo. Me also. That is why I put hopefully before Nimmo. He just doesn't seem as patient as he was in years past. I don't know if possibly trying to hit for more power (batting 4-5) rather than trying to get on base (batting 1-2) ahead of the RBI bats. He seems to be trying to a power and RBI bat, rather than an on base table setter.
  3. I really despise the ghost runner. I would prefer to see real baseball played in extra innings. If they are too worried about running out of players in drawn out games, then expand rosters by 1 player or play true baseball through the 12th inning, then play clown car baseball if still tied going to the 13th inning. I have grown to accept the DH, though I prefer the strategic nuisances that not having it brought to the game.
  4. What a great game. I couldn't get on the CPF for the final inning and immediately after the game due to "Too Many Requests". I wish it was due to an influx of members, but it was probably caused damn AI spam bots. This team just keeps hanging in there and finding ways to win. I don't believe the pitching can sustain the current level of excellence throughout the season, but they should still be better than expected. I expect the offense will improve as McNeil and Alvarez return. More importantly, I believe it is only a matter of time before Soto, Vientos, and hopefully Nimmo begin to hit at their expected levels. Great homestand. Very fun to watch.
  5. Well, this game has gone down hill fast. Mets catch a break on the back being cancelled. Kranick needs to close it out and hope the offense can salvage this one.
  6. Acuna with a 2 out single. Now turn it into a double with a stolen base.
  7. Time for a Pete bomb.
  8. Gary with an emphatic strike out call on Stott. Unfortunately, it was outside. Stout eventually out. Soto throws a strike to the plate to gun Down Castellano and keep the score tied.
  9. I must admit, I didn't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about Danny Young facing Harper & Schwarber, but he did a great job, striking them both out.
  10. Nice catch by Nimmo for the 1st out in the 6th. Peterson isn't exactly going the Phillies. Sharp single with one out and Peterson's day is done.
  11. Lindor is the man.
  12. I don't believe the Mets will opt to send a pitcher down when McNeil is ready to join the team. Personally, I would go with Acuna over Baty to make room for McNeil. Acuna is better defensively, has elite speed which can be a valuable asset, and he can play shortstop (if needed) in addition to second or third.
  13. Pete hits a bomb to give some more insurance.
  14. Lindor saves the day with a great defensive play.
  15. I would be happier if Minter would stop walking everyone. There you go, throw strikes and get a ground out.
  16. Soto with a steal. I did not know that was part of his game.
  17. Is this the Food Network or MLB?
  18. I am close to muting the blathering announcers.
  19. Soto isn't a burner like Acuna, but he appeared to be running faster rounding third than I expected of him. 2-0 Good guys after 3 innings.
  20. I thought the game was on Fox. So I turn it on and the Dodgers are playing. I turn the TV back off and go check on MLB app. and sure enough there are the Mets. I'm not sure who is calling the game, but it definitely is not Gary, Ron, and Keith. Probably, the back up crew from Fox. As long as I can watch, I'm happy.
  21. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The sweep will have to wait for tomorrow, since it's a four-game series. I thought the same thing when I read Edgy's post. Then I thought, well the Mets can't sweep the series unless they first win this afternoon. So I guess, you can say they a "going for" (or working towards) the sweep.
  22. The Hot Corner wrote: how non-cholent Lindor seem Is this a typo or a Jewish joke? Actually poor spelling skills with autocorrection. I initially typed non-chalent (rather than the correct nonchalant) and autocorrection changed it to non-cholent. At the time I thought, that doesn't look right, but I went with the autocorrection. After seeing your post, I looked up Cholent (Schalet) and now I'm hungry. It is always nice to learn something new from my ignorance.
  23. What a great game. I felt pretty good heading to the bottom of the ninth with the top of the order. Lindor wasted no time making the fans happy with a no doubter into the upper deck. I love how non-cholent Lindor seem when he hits a big home run. This one reminded me of the clutch HR he hit in Atlanta at the end of last season.
