Me too. I was really hoping that they would rally behind their injuries and put together a big win. But this team, as much as I really want them to, just doesn't seem to have it. Hopefully they can learn enough in these last fifty games to propel them well into 2006.I'm growing weary with the schizophrenia that this club both has and gives me. Every win, I think they're putting it together; every loss, and the season's over. Frustrating.
="Rotblatt"]3B Rodney Nye checks in at 10th in the International League in AVG with .307 (our other guys don't have enough AB to qualify). He's got a .826 OPS overall. Not bad.Maybe we can get rid of this Wright guy. I don't know what everybody sees in this kid; apparently, he doesn't even know that you're supposed to use your glove, not your fingers, to catch.

I think a Cone show would be interesting, actually. He had a neat career: the perfect game, the column fallout in '88, his... um... bullpen shenanigans, the 20-3 season, the comeback with the Mets... there's quite a bit there.
62, for a split second as I was racing home, listening to the whole thing unfold on the radio, I thought the same thing, just in reverse... "if we'd only dealt him, this collision wouldn't have happened."

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- New York Mets right fielder Mike Cameron was taken off the field on a stretcher following a frightening head-to-head collision with center fielder Carlos Beltran in the seventh inning of a 2-1 loss to the San Diego Padres on Thursday. The game was delayed for about 13 minutes after the diving crash. Cameron lay on the field and was tended to by trainers from both teams before being taken to Mercy Hospital."He's surprisingly alert and doing well," Mets assistant general manager Jim Duquette said. "He's alert and moving, and that's a good sign.Duquette said Cameron experienced dizziness and had some pain in the front part of his shoulder and a cut on his upper lip. He said Beltran was examined by the Padres' doctor at the stadium and "everything came out normal."Cameron lifted up his head at one point, and shielded his eyes from the sun as he was put onto a stretcher by paramedics, lifted onto a cart and driven off the field. He was immobilized and put in a neck brace.Beltran got up after a few minutes after the collision and walked off the field on his own power. He left the game with a sore left shoulder and a cut on the face.
I don't think you want to see the footage. Just go back and watch Wright's barehand catch from the other day.Memories of Terry Blocker and Danny Heep (I think) also.
Duq says Cameron is on his way to the hospital and had cuts on both lips. but was otherwise alert and responsive. Beltran -- at least for now -- is relatively okay, with a cut on his face and some shoulder soreness.Dammit.
Ted Robinson reports that Cammy and Beltran are -- and I quote -- "alert." That really doesn't make me feel any better. Cammy's at the hospital, Beltran is still in the park.
Willie said earlier this season that if he was stuck, he'd turn to Glavine to pinch-hit. Not a terrible idea in the sixteenth inning or something crazy.
This doesn't fit in this IGT, but I found this Brian Bohanon photo for my avatar, and I figured I'd stick it in here.Remember the white hat days? Yikes.
