  1. I had given up on this game -- I forgot that "Lost" was on -- but I'm back. Woody, time to be a hero.
  2. Can we bring in Dwight Gooden, circa 1986, now?
  3. Is Mole's TV on some sort of reverse delay, where he sees things before they happen?
  4. One HUGE out. Franceoueur still at second.
  5. Get Tim Freaking Hamulack into this game. I hat Braden Looper (and Victor Diaz, although he's lucky as hell that was only a double).
  6. DAMMIT DIAZ! Do NOT jog after the ball in the bottom of the goddamn ninth inning!! Why the hell is he still out there?!?!
  7. Make or break, Loops.
  8. Captain Fantastic is challenging Piazza's single-season record for GOICS.
  9. I had Glavine at one point, but dropped him quickly. Picked up Zambrano a few months ago, and picked up Seo after his first start back, so that's been a nice boost. Tried to get Wright, but his owner's a big Mets fan too, so that wasn't gonna happen. Nice out, Bert.
  10. Glavine did a nice job today. He's pitched well recently. Let's get him a W, Bert.
  11. Petit in 2005, Bannister never.
  12. Burnett never cracked the Top 100 as a Met.
  13. Party at martin's house! I'm usually anti-Brave and anti-Yankee on my team, but Hudson's been on my team forever, and I hated to lose him.
  14. Hey, I said "loss." It's all good.
  15. Hey, Carlos! Way to take the bat out of the hands of the best hitter on the team! I hope Omar kept his receipt.
  16. I'll take one more insurance run here... but I'd still like a complete game (loss) from Hud for fantasy league purposes.
  17. Milledge (05,04) is right! Still missing one OF and one RHP.
  18. Nice job, Frayed! Cliff Floyd was the top ranked prospect in 1994 as a first baseman with the Expos. Still missing the pitcher. Fordyce (93,91) is the other catcher. Long appeared once, in 1997.
  19. YEAH letting Hudson hit. Big fan of that move.
  20. Once. (1995.)
  21. Ochoa appeared only once as a Met, in 1996.
  22. C Hundley (92,91,90) 3B Wright (04,03) Alfonzo (95,94) Huskey (94,93,92) SS Reyes (03,02) Ordonez (96,95) OF Escobar (01,00,99) Preston Wilson (96,94,93) Payton (97,96,95) Burnitz (93,92) RHP Heilman (03,02) Roberts (00,99,98) Paul Wilson (96,95) AYoung (92,91) Strange (01,00) LHP Kazmir (04,03) Cole appeared once (2001), as did Pulse (94). That's five for Zvon, eleven for the Knot. Nice job both of you. Still missing a catcher, two OFs, one righty, and the second bonus question.
  23. Someday, the AFLAC Trivia Question will be... "How fast does Mr. Met run?" Remember that the answer is 6-7 mph.
  24. I know it's silly to throw up a quiz when there's a crucial, pennant-race deciding game going on, but I figure nobody's watching Phillies-Astros anyway. The Mets have had plenty of prospects who never turned out (Al Shirley, Kirk Presley, Julian Vazquez), and some who were dealt at the peak of their prospecthood (Ed Yarnall, Geoff Goetz), and some who shot up to the major league level quickly (Alex Ochoa, Bill Pulsipher). Some players, however, rise through the system slowly and become part of silly trivia questions. Since 1990, nineteen Mets prospects -- two catchers, three third basemen, two shortstops, six outfielders, six right-handed pitchers, and one lefty -- have appeared at least twice on Baseball America's Top 100 Prospects list while in the system. Some may have appeared as members of other organizations, but only nineteen appeared at least twice -- and six of them appeared three times -- on the list as Mets prospects. Name them. And for bonus points, identify the six guys who made it to the list three times. And for ANOTHER bonus point, name the only two #1 BA prospects since 1990 who have ever appeared in a Mets uniform. (Hint: One was a first base prospect, one was a pitcher.)
