  1. I usually like Miller; he's not the problem for me. Morgan bothers me because he's supposed to be the expert, lending his name to "Baseball For Dummies" and things like that, but it seems like he's just talking just to fill space without processing anything through the truth sensor first.
  2. And very quickly, it's turned ugly.
  3. You know, Milledge has really done nothing for me recently. Can we retroactively trade him for Alfonso Soriano or something? I'm just going to pretend that's not Guillermo Mota warming up in the bullpen. Maybe he's just out there as a decoy.
  4. Jon! Cut it out! "The Dodgers go home next to take on the Washington Nationals, a young team that's done really well." They're 58-73, a game and a half away from being the worst non-Tampa team in the majors! (sigh)
  5. Did you know that Russ Martin leads the Dodgers in "being an excellent player"? What a fascinating stat. Thank God we have Jon Miller available tonight to impart his wisdom. Dude is making Joe Morgan sound like Winston Churchill.
  6. Matt Kemp, making David Wells look like Rickey Henderson on the basepaths.
  7. David Wells, raising havoc on the basepaths and creating runs. Tied up.
  8. THAT was outstanding. Nice job by David Wells.
  9. John Maine, pitching his way out of trouble. Pretty.
  10. Ms. Wolf: "Isn't Jeff Kent kind of a dick?" Me: "Yeah, kinda." Ms. Wolf: "Well, then maybe it's okay that they hit him."
  11. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Hopefully, that doesn't spark a patented Maine Meltdown. Urg. That 3-1 pitch was close, then the 3-2 was way up and out. Come on, JM. Hang in there. And another foul on what would have been ball four.
  12. Nah, McCarver's a kook, but he knows his stuff. Morgan's just an idiot.
  13. I'd imagine that once Gomez is healthy, he'll be back. Completely forgot about Humber and Burgos.
  14. I think you're right on the two pitchers, Pelfrey and Smith. The only way they add Adkins or Williams is if someone gets hurt and they have to. I agree with gwreck also on the other three guys, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them keep Alomar around.
  15. You know, Posada only started bothering me a few years ago when my crazy alcoholic uncle was trying to tell me about "that great Italian catcher the Mets have... Posada." Either way, I don't want him. There'll be guys out there if they don't re-sign LoDuca.
  16. First of all, I know he's having a nice year, but I don't want Jorge Posada getting old on our roster. Second, Fucking Yankees.
  17. Never say die, folks. Oh, wait. Delgado's up.
  18. The official scorer shall credit a pitcher with a save when such pitcher meets all four of the following conditions: (1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team; (2) He is not the winning pitcher; (3) He is credited with at least a third of an inning pitched; and (4) He satisfies one of the following conditions: (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches at least one inning; ( He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batters he faces); or © He pitches for at least three innings.
  19. No, it's definitely not too early. I agree that Sele's not necessary come October, but they're not going to leave themselves without a long man (especially considering the new short role for Sosa) for a week against division foes just to bring Endy Chavez back.
  20. It's the little-used "three scoreless innings" rule.
  21. ...in game one of a doubleheader. Awesome.
  22. By the way, how much fun is it to listen to Gary Cohen call a Mets walkoff win? Love it.
  23. Fucking genius. I LOVE THIS TEAM. Suck it, Mister Career Saves Leader.
