I think that's possibly a function of location as much as anything -- it's a pain to drag folks up from N'awlins, whereas Binghamton is closer, both in distance as well as weather.

He washed out, so it'd probably be a moot point, but what if he'd signed here and they'd dealt Wright? Jeez.
  3. How the hell did the Pirates wind up with four good young players for Jason Bay? That's great work by them.
  4. metsguyinmichigan wrote: None of this applies to the Hostess version with the thin chocolate icing with the white curley-ques on top, and "cream" filling. Now I have to stop at the grocery store on the way home. Ass.
  5. How many effing Wilpons are there? Jeez. They're like the Osmonds.
  6. Mmm, cupcakes. How about Benny Ayala? Or Benny Lava, for that matter?
  7. soupcan wrote: Jon Heyman on FAN says Griffey, Jr. to the White Sox is a done deal. Another guy I would have liked. Wonder what the Reds will get back.
  8. I'd rather have Bobby Bonds. And he's dead.
  9. Looks like Shea to me also. A lot of cards pictures in those days were taken in New York or Chicago, because it was easiest and cheapest to get photographers there.

I look forward to Dallas Green's head exploding.
  11. Edge. Giuseppe Franco actually makes me laugh.
  12. AG/DC wrote: Yeah, but it'd be pretty fuckin' strange if he came out of retirement to record one out in May, while shaking his ass, then celebrated by circling the stadium collecting high-fives, starting with the opposing dugout. No, that would be the greatest thing in the history of things, because it would make WFAN callers' (and probably Chris Russo's) heads explode.
  13. I miss Shinjo. One of my all-time favorite Mets.
  14. This got ugly quickly, didn't it?
  15. Didn't Dallas Green have it out with another Phillie in the last year or so?
  16. Unquestionably a godsend, better than we could have reasonably expected. That said, you have to figure this bubble will burst, right?
  17. Tons, indeed, but the only one that matters to me is this one: http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=3257 That "game memory" from a six-year-old kid is mine.
  18. http://news.yahoo.com/s/cpress/20080727/ca_pr_on_ba/bbl_cardinals_indians_trade_7 Remember how he was 2-14 last year? What an ugly W-L record. Still, he's only 26. Oh, you thought... Sorry about that.

    Man-Ram

There's zero chance the Sox trade Manny Ramirez in the thick of a pennant race, but that said, I'd take him on my team any day of the week.
  20. He was moving his legs, so at least that's a good thing. Squirming's always encouraging.
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Jeez I thought that trade was a joke. It's not Nady to the MFYs. Geez. No, it is. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3505686
  22. Hope they haven't ordered them yet. Maybe they can trade them to the Altoona Curve for a bobblehead to be named later.
  23. Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte to the Yanks for Ross Ohlendorf, Jose Tabata, and two other guys.
